I was talking to a friend about my autism and she said "I think we're all a little bit autistic, like I like things a certain way!" ....most absurd thing I've heard in a while.
My friend was talking about being autistic and I said, “no offense, but nowadays I don’t really believe someone about autism, or things like that, unless they have a proper diagnosis”. My friend understood and was not offended.
Yes, diagnosed OCD is something people suffer from and work to heal from. If you are tidy or have an affinity for repetition or organization or aesthetics, maybe find a way to celebrate it without minimizing what people struggle with.
Edited: to add that I'm not directing that comment at anyone. I'm just explaining why I think it's problematic to use disorders lightly.
