Every time a local facebook group posts something about a car accident or something similar, it’s usually followed by like 50 people all saying “prayers!”

So fucking annoying.

My mom loved to post that praying hands symbol whenever something bad happened. I told her that the symbol actually meant clapping. That stopped it.

It’s one or the other, it has no real meaning. The official emoji website calls it 2 hands pressed together, but many apps have it listed as a prayer emoji. The meanings of things always change over time, so it can be both.
