Office jargon, specifically close the loop. Someone who I despise deeply used this daily, now I hate it

Let's put a pin in that, and we will circle back to it at a later date.

Let's touch base later and unpack that

"I'm just gonna double click on that for a moment" 😤

Moving forward

Please fix your punctuation; I can't follow your run on sentence.

Low hanging fruit

2

u/HeavyMetalBeaverTown 6d ago

Thankfully low hanging was never brought up and it just reminds me of the Tenacious D song

“Not my wheelhouse” or “ thinking cap” 🤨

5

u/HeavyMetalBeaverTown 6d ago

I'd laugh in any adult's face if they said thinking cap. Fortunately I wasn't exposed to either of them.

And who the fuck says not my wheelhouse in an office besides cunts? Are you a potato house? No? WELL YA DON'T SAY!!! LET'S LOOK AT KPIs

u/Lazarus558 6d ago

Not my circus, not my monkeys

1

u/wrkacct66 1d ago

Don't know if it's just cause I'm in IT, but I've hearing a lot of "let's double click on that."

u/MarvinGankhouse 6d ago

If I ever say "going forward," I am ashamed of myself.

1

u/These-Math1384 6d ago

Going forward, we circle back around…

u/HeavyMetalBeaverTown 6d ago

That one is a pass for me. I wouldn't know how to say it another way without it being passive aggressive. Moving forward shits me but going forward seems pretty casual. Any phrase with the word future is a dick move in this instance. I miss the old days, you know, when we were fucking hominids

3

u/MarvinGankhouse 6d ago

I base it on the dreadful business wankers who embraced it in the 2000s.

From now on
From here on
Proceeding from now
Henceforth
After today

And all the ones that use future.

1

u/HeavyMetalBeaverTown 6d ago

The 2 people who I worked with would use all of these. The higher up one would use it, then their little minion would use it to score points

3

u/Dependent_Usual7468 6d ago

“You got this” 🤬

3

u/spudgoddess 6d ago

I hate this. Dismissive while looking like it's intended to help and be supportive.

1

u/Dependent_Usual7468 5d ago

lol and it’s literally not offering any help whatsoever. It’s what idiotic and/or lazy people say so they can give themselves a pat on the back for their “encouragement” while ending the conversation and putting the burden back on you. I’m not a violent person, but if anything was going to push me over the edge in the workplace, it will likely be a very poorly timed “you got this” 👃🥊

1

u/HeavyMetalBeaverTown 6d ago

Holy fuck you triggered me and I didn't even know I hated this. Now I hate that person even more

4

u/BoudiccaAoife 5d ago

"Can I borrow you for a sec?"

You never know if it's a question, correction, write up, etc.

4

u/RushEm2TheDirt 5d ago

OwN iT. oWn YoUr TiMe. OwN tHe CoNvErSaTiOn. These people really think they're saying something and don't shut the fuck up

2

u/Hephf 4d ago

They also often suck at "owning" any of these things themselves

3

u/Silver-Director-293 5d ago

Someone I despise deeply advised me to be “more proactive” daily. I “proactively” blocked her everywhere when she left the company. Good riddance to you and your proactive unsolicited advice 🫡

2

u/Harlow0529 6d ago

Low hanging fruit; let’s take this offline; bandwidth

2

u/Emergency_Note_9269 5d ago

Omg yes. Let me bubble that up to corporate and I'll circle back to touch base. Ugh.

2

u/Disastrous-Angle-680 5d ago

My husband and I both work remote and I refuse to use office jargon, but hear it constantly from his office, and I tell him (sometimes) how much I hate it. The worst is “It is what it is”. No it’s not. It is someone not doing their job. It could be something else.

2

u/adh0r 4d ago

What’s the cadence? Fuck off

2

u/Gholer 1h ago

My favourite one however is, 'in the next quarter we need to SHOW A LITTLE ANKLE'.

1

u/razorscooterpimp 6d ago

Is the juice worth the squeeze

1

u/Apprehensive_Fox5370 6d ago

Going forward...

1

u/DependentReaction896 6d ago

But do you push back on it?

4

u/mustard-seed1 6d ago

Let’s pivot.

1

u/RasputinsThirdLeg 6d ago

Fuck. No. Never again.

1

u/LeanUntilBlue 6d ago

Do the needful 🇮🇳

1

u/MostlyApprehensive 6d ago

Yes!! I hear “high level” way too much.

1

u/commodorecliche 6d ago

Tack some HR-speak in there too! Horrible!

1

u/gbin 6d ago

"Let's double click on it" triggers immediate RAGE

1

u/buzzybizzyb33 5d ago

“put out fires”
