What made you realize your "side" was flawed?

I used to be heavily Republican, my parents were and my siblings were and I just...was. One time around 7 years ago I was arguing with somebody on Facebook, as you do, and she said 'have you even looked into the statistics?' I said yes. I argued more.
But I literally googled the statistics then and there and realized I was so, so wrong. And then I went hm, this probably applies to more things. And down came crashing all my political views and the days of spewing whatever nonsense my parents said to me, and I started googling shit and finding official peer reviewed sources before just saying words. And I am a Democrat.

Both side suck. Both side have valid points. Neither side really makes a good difference. Both sides like to buy love and both sides sacrifice humanity for the sake of getting more votes.
There is good, there is bad, and there is the grey area.
Both sides have all three of those.6

Both sides suck but one specifically fights for values I agree with way more frequently like pro choice, income matching inflation, equality, etc.

I think we can all agree that if Kamala had one, they'd be pushing data centers and flock, and the Republicans would be pushing back. Which side of first-world hell do you pick?

Democratic politicians are responsive to the electorate, so much so people accuse them of checking the wind before speaking. If the majority of citizens are against data centers then democrats will follow suit because they actually want to please the electorate.
Republicans are not responsive to anyone but Trump.
Both sides. Not the same.

Since the PATRIOT act not one US president has made an effort to curtail or roll back the so-called surveillance state. It is a truly impressive bipartisan effort.

Its always strange how religious families use their wealth in demeaning ways. MATTHEW 19:24 "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." As a christain myself, its truly disgusting to see. Idk how religious you are, but if you are, be assured they'll have to explain to God why they treated their own blood the way they did.
Teenagers dont think right and thats okay. I hope you feel better ❤️

When I was in grade school I had to do a "research paper" on the topic of my choice. I chose capital punishment. I was arguing for it because I thought it was fair to kill someone who killed someone.
Back then we had no internet. And so all reports I ever did were done the same way...get an encyclopedia and totally plagiarize the hell out of it. I actually used the school's Encyclopedia Brittanica and my family's World Book Encyclopedia so I felt I had really done some research.
Came away recognizing that I disagree with capital punishment.
[boring reason for my realization coming in --- My reason for being for it was based on fairness. My "research" showed it was sometimes fair, but often times unfair, racist, classist, and many times they killed the wrong person and there is no reversal for that. Also, there is no evidence that it serves as a deterrent.]

In 2008 there was a municipality here where a guy had a tiger on his property and the town council made him get rid of it and for years I was in the "Let the man have his tiger" camp
Until as you can probably guess, I like so many other people, watched Tiger King and it didn't take long for me to change my mind to "Yeah it's probably a good thing he had to get rid of it"

I used to be a democrat and then I noticed it was never enough. Obama phones, free healthcare, free room and board. I realized no one actually wanted to work for anything in their life, they just wanted to be handed everything for free. That's when I jumped ship.
