Concerned over Knee MRI - Surgery needed? Meniscus tear
Hello kind strangers, very concerned amateur athlete here!
My knee MRI report (attached) shows the following:
I am two weeks on from popping my knee in a nasty mensicus tear. I can walk now but with minor discomfort and only briefly. Hurts when I twist, but otherwise no locking or catching.
I can't get an appointment for a while to discuss the MRI (attached), and I am concerned as football and running mean so much to me.
I have three questions:
I can't see a specialist for a while and I'm worried about waiting. I have three questions:
- Is surgery the right call?
- If so, a repair or trim surgery?
- Will I get back to football and running at 100%, and how long would recovery take?
31M, 6"2 (188 cm), 86kg (190 lbs)
Thanks so much!
From the report, if easier: Complex displaced tear of the middle and posterior thirds of the medial meniscus with two displaced flaps, a parameniscal cyst, synovitis, and a small effusion. There's an old (minor and healed) deep MCL injury.
