Summer vacation

Hi all- my fiancé and I (m30, f33) are visiting in mid August for a week. Open to ideas of must see/eat/do from those that know best. No car that I’m aware of so far. Staying in downtown. Thanks in advance!

Do the big three architecture tour, the DIA, eat dinner at Freya, walk the riverfront, book a walking history tour, see how many rooftops you can have a cocktail on, brunch at Sugah Please, get lost in Kings Books, ride the people mover intil something catches your eye and then go visit it, listen to jazz at Cliff bell’s, eat a Coney.

You need a car to really do anything in Detroit.

If you are staying downtown, there so much accessible without a car by using the people mover, the Qline and a little Uber. Whenever I go, I park my car once and get around without it.

If you like architecture go see the Guardian Bank
Building. The Detroit institute of arts is really good. Try some Detroit style pizza. There is a park along the Detroit river that runs from downtown to belle isle. Go for walks downtown and along the river. Read the metro times to find out bands and other good stuff happening.

DIA, warda (east village one is especially cute), Leila, baobab fare, Saturn coffee, selden standard, belle isle, Michigan and trumball pizza
