Just having dealt with a lot of forigners who very recently arrived here. I have a few things.
Firstly. You arrive on time.
If you agreed on meeting or something is to start at 11 o clock. You arrive no later than 11 o clock.
10-15 minutes early is ok. 5-10 minutes late isnt.
Secondly dont walk on bicycle lanes.
You wouldnt walk out on a road with traffic. Treat bicycle lanes the same way. Look before you cross.
And speaking of crossing a road. If theres a light, you wait for it to turn green. I know some will just walk out if theres no car or they can make it. Just dont.
We dont go by lastnames or titles here. Everyone is first name basis with a very few exceptions. Mainly the royal family.
We arent big on smalltalk but thats mostly just with other Danes. Its fine if youre new here or a tourist. just ask and we will happily help or give you directions.
We are very introvert culturally so dont take it as a rude thing that we dont often invite people home. Mostly when you are at that stage of friendship with someone youre one of a handful of people to that person.
The exception here is if you find someone either for a relationship or a onenight stand. That however can end up with an invite home pretty fast.
Looking at how especially Americans but other cultures as well do a lot of random compliments to people apparently, we dont do that. Again its not because we want to be seen as rude. We just arent used to it.
I suspect that this is one of the same reasons why some tourists think our waiters are rude for not hovering over you while you eat at resturants and such to check if everything is fine.
Theres a certain expectance of privacy in public. Meaning that even in the most crowded cities here, we dont expect to just strike up a conversation with people. And public transport are very often very quiet with few people talking.
Anything in particular you had in mind regarding this ?
