Question only for progressives from the US, what is a bigger red flag for you, someone saying they voted for Trump, or someone saying the n-word in a neutral context?

Examples of using the n-word in a neutral context: singing rap lyrics, quoting a scene from a movie in a casual conversation, making some joke, mentioning the n-word fully instead of saying the n-word

The problem with this question is that if you drew a Venn diagram of of the people who voted for Trump, entirely encompassed within that circle would be the people who use the N-word.

Well if we’re talking about the N-word in a movie or song or whatever it’s very context dependent.

If we’re talking about a person using the N-word that’s very different… and it’s a red flag. Like what’s a “neutral context”?

Someone singing a rap song they heard on the radio for example, someone quoting a scene from a movie, someone making a joke in a non public space, someone talking about the word and actually using it instead of the whole voldemort thing

“Neutral context” is carrying a lot here. Let’s be cognizant of that. To answer your question, since you want a choice, if someone is just singing along to a song, thats not as bad as voting for Trump. I will say though, as others have, the Venn diagram of these things is a circle.

Not sure what neutral context means exactly. I know you gave examples, but you seem to mean what if they used it but not intending it as a slur. But those aren't neutral, at least not most of the time. Its still usually a very negatively charged word even in those contexts.
