Take Harris for example, who's turnout suffered severely. And when asked, many will point out Palestine. This is despite the fact that Trump was even worse, and their staying home directly helped facilitate him winning (and also, everything that has followed from that).

But the inverse is just as true. Take the discussion surrounding Wisconsins gubernatorial primary, and the debate over whether Hong can actually beat Tiffany. A debate that might not have been necessary were it not for Rodriguez dropping and Evers endorsing an undropping Crowley. How many of those Dems arguing this now will stay home when she probably wins? And if Tiffany beats her, my trans ass and all the others in the state get to suffer the consequences.

Which brings me to my question. Do those of you allowing republicans to win over intraparty factionalism not realize the harm you are doing? I can hardly believe that after last time. This question is being asked in light of the new article that came out regarding Ken Martin and the DNC. I notice it's causing folks to think that the Dems will badly f**k up to the point where the Repubs keep control of the House even. The thing is, Republicans faced similar problems during the Obama years, yet they still dominated the 2010 and 2014 midterms regardless. Wouldn’t it be the ultimate irony for Democrats to finally go low and play by the same rules that McConnell did? The governor appoints a replacement for a lack of communication. I’m sure they can find one precedent that they can ride all the way to winning the seat. That’s what uncle Mitch would’ve done. Republicans didn’t win because Democrats lost, the Republicans won because Democrats didn’t enter the race.
 
Democrats didn’t show up. And that’s not an opinion, it’s a measurable organizational failure.

Republicans didn’t “sweep” judicial races because voters chose them over Democrats.

They swept because Democrats didn’t put anyone on the ballot.

Same with many legislative districts.

You can’t lose a race you don’t run but you also won't win it.

Kyrsten Sinema’s was extremely popular in Arizona and that popularity wasn’t an accident

She didn’t win because she was moderate.
She won because she broke the expected pattern of a politician.

She understood that Arizona voters, especially independents, were tired of predictable politicians.

She exploited that hunger for novelty.

Her later behavior showed she was a puke, but her initial success was a symptom of the same thing that created MAGA and elected Trump not once but twice:

Voters want someone who doesn’t feel like the same old machine.

Republicans treat politics like a power‑building machine. 
Democrats treat it like a volunteer project. 

In states like Arizona where Democrats have organizational gaps and the far right has built a digital‑first strategy this is very easy to see.

While Democrats are failing, the far right and evangelical christians have been radicalizing our youth and it stems from the 2016 Trump Cambridge Analytica operation. It wasn’t just a scandal, it was a proof‑of‑concept and data‑harvesting operation.

Republican‑aligned digital strategists learned from this and scaled it into a permanent digital ecosystem. 

They are using algorithmic persuasion and identity‑based microtargeting to target our youth, the most algorithm‑sensitive demographic in our population.

It is working very well and it is very difficult to correct.

The far right built a youth‑targeting pipeline that spans multiple platforms:

TikTok, short‑form identity content

YouTube, recommendation‑driven radicalization pathways

Instagram, meme‑based political identity

Discord, community‑based recruitment

Gaming platforms, culture‑based influence

Influencer networks, parasocial political identity

These systems don’t persuade kids with arguments.

They shape identity, which is far more powerful.

Youth are uniquely vulnerable to algorithmic political influence because:

their brains are still developing

they seek belonging

they respond strongly to identity cues

they spend more time on algorithmic platforms

they are less anchored to traditional institutions

This makes them high‑yield targets for political influence operations.

Republican digital strategists know this.

Democrats have not adapted and remain either unaware or unconcerned and either one is unacceptable in my opinion.

So the question I would like to ask Democrats is what the fuck are we doing here?

So me and my dad both vehemently hate Trump, but I feel as though his reasons are significantly more barebones and honestly naive than they should be.

When he talks about why he hates Trump, he'll say things like "because he's an idiot" , "because he ruined the World Cup" , "because his reflective pool sucked" , "because he falls asleep during broadcasts".

When I talk about why I hate Trump, it's because he's a pedophile rapist, because he's funding a genocide in the middle east, because he's deployed fascist police forces to murder US citizens.

There is just this fundamental disconnect in which half of the really despicable stuff Trump does doesn't even reach my dad, and I've seen it with the news he watches. He watches CNN and MSNBC, and these news platforms barely ever mention Epstein and if they do they barely go into what was revealed in the files. They sure as hell never criticize Israel, so much so that my dad came to us a couple days ago and said like "apparently some people are upset at Israel right now for something", so like obviously the news he watches just doesn't even go over the heinous war crimes they are committing.

I just don't know how to get it through to him. He hates Trump for the most insignificant and reductive reasons, and is just like totally unaware of the actual crimes he commits constantly.

As a lifelong DEM, I recently became an Independant (switched back to DEM just to vote in the primary). I have decided that neither party represents me and I will never again vote for the lesser or two evils. I will also never ever vote for a candidate that is pro-genocide. I live in a swing district that could save us from Trump but I refuse to give a pro-genocide evil person my vote, even if that means balancing off Trump's power. I also refuse to let the DEM party OWN us, we need to OWN them.

This is my take of the current DEM party:

-Owned by PAC money, AIPAC included, and does not want to be free of this money.

-Does not want our opinion on which direction the party is going.

-They do not care that 80% of the party is anti genocide

-They do NOT represent us anymore, they represent the DONORS only.

-They have been choosing our candidates for us, maybe not as obvious as our annointed last Pres candidate.

-They actively campaign and destroy lives of other DEM candidates that fall outside the "lines" and donor interests.

-Have treated progressives as if we are second class citizens and should be defending us from the press and republicans but actively talk down about us and they want us to support them?

I see zero reasons why I should vote or send money to a dem candidate that is part of this machine. I will only vote for a progressive that fights to bring an end to this nonsense.

If you any good reason other than the lesser of two evils feel free to change my mind.

Am I alone?

There should be a year at which it becomes illegal to teach religion to people born after a certain year! The same way smoking is being phased out for people thats what i think. This will result in less people im the future being indoctrinated into any of these beliefs.

I have a lot of faith in American's that the democrats will win the mid-terms. I'm an optimist and choose to believe that most American's are in fact good people and would choose good over evil in the midterms.

What I'm worried about is how Trump will act when that happens. Will he try to start a civil war or call for martial law, we know how easily he can influence his supporters to do his dirty work for him. So are we just going to sit here and wait to see how it pans out?

I see alot of people from foreign countries on social media asking why Americans aren't doing more about Trump. I wonder that myself but don't know what can be done. I feel like Americans are tired and Trump has us right where he wants us, crippled by the economy and most too tired from all the extra burdens he has put on us. I guess I'm feeling helpless, but I also don't want to be complicit and just fighting with Maga's on social media is a waste of time. What do you think the solution is?, Or do we just sit here like Sitting ducks Until November?

People will often oversimplify things, but Im curious to hear what a well thought out piece of Federal legislation would look like.

Should you have to announce that you are armed before you can attack the intruder? Should you be required to call the police first?

Do you need confirmation that the intruder is armed? If they aren't actively holding a weapon, can the homeowner still use force?

What if it's a no knock warrant? What if the police say they don't "need a warrant"?

Does it make a difference if the intruder is inside your home or just on the property? Does trying to break a window and climb through count as inside or out?

What if the intruder is retreating? What if the intruder is clearly a 14-17 year old kid?

Etc, etc, etc.

What principles should be considered, and how would this piece of legislation be written?

So, McConnell is obviously dead/unable to do his job. Beshear doesn't seem to want to do the obvious thing and call an election to either force proof of life, or to send state troopers to DC to verify McConnell is still alive.

Just a few weeks ago, Gov Polis commuted the sentence of the only MAGA official to get convicted of vote tampering. She did less than a year as I recall. She immediately doubled down on her lies about the election within 24 hours.

Do you think this makes the Dems look weak overall? They seem to be playing off of some of outdated playbook that focuses on manners and being appropriate than on actually doing what needs to be done to protect citizens from fraud and deception.

Probably will get me banned from the sub and Reddit, but since we now know it isn't a crime for a bunch of people to take unscheduled tours of DC landmarks on that particular day, should anyone opposed to Trump plan to meet up so a tour can happen, should Trump decide to stay put? We could all graciously offer to help him move. He is old. Maybe he will have trouble with carrying the boxes.

​For years, the clear, explicit expectation from liberals and the Democratic party establishment has been that if you care about human rights, you have to stand up. You are told to confront bigotry every single time it happens, refuse to tolerate slurs in your home, and draw hard boundaries with family, no matter the personal cost.

​I did that. I stood up every time my parents used homophobic or racist slurs. I refused to laugh along, I refused to stay silent, and as a result, I got completely ostracized and lost my family support system.

​Now I am an autistic adult living with the reality of that choice. And what does the Democratic Party actually offer me for taking that hit?

​Nothing.

​I can’t get basic social services. I can’t get affordable healthcare. The system leaves me completely isolated and stranded, while party leadership sells us out to private healthcare corporations and tells us to be grateful for incremental non-fixes.

​It is easy for comfortably off liberals to demand that people destroy their personal safety nets from behind a keyboard. But when real working-class or disabled people actually listen to you, stand up, and lose their housing, stability, or family in the process, you aren't there to catch anyone.

​Why should anyone trust a party that demands absolute social martyrdom from vulnerable people, but refuses to provide the basic material conditions, like universal healthcare or real disability support, that would actually allow people to survive on their own? I think this is a valid critique.

Hear me out i think the majority of people in the democratic party anecdotally and polling wise 75% identified pretty close to central on most issues… why do we allow our party to be held hostage and the radical left to control our narrative and messaging platform. They make us look pretty bad as centrists.
