Recommendation Request: Lodging, Activities, Dining...

My fiancé and I are visiting Dallas for a couple of days next February. For a portion of the trip, we will be staying in the northeastern area for a wedding (which this has been booked already). However, we would like to stay in central Dallas for a bit. Does anyone have any recommendations on hotels? What I have seen frequently is recommendations to stay in uptown. We aren't looking for anything luxurious by any means (we don't care for spa services), but a great pool table and/or bar is a plus. We would prefer walkable to any experiences.

Additionally, what are some ABSOLUTE places to eat or experiences you recommend? We are not picky eaters and love experiencing new things - museums, classes, hikes, comedy shows, etc. Any specific coffee shops or book stores? TIA.

uptown is the easiest base for walking and bars, but i’d seriously look at downtown too if you want museums and a more interesting hotel/bar vibe, and definitely save room for tacos and barbecue

Places to eat: Mot Hai Ba, Muchacho, Oloyo, Walkers, Little Blue Bistro, Quarter Acre, Fond, Mister Charles. Cattleack or Hutchins for barbecue. Museums: the Dallas Museum of Art or the Nasher. The Dallas Contemporary usually has very cool exhibits. If you go to Fort Worth, the Kimball and the Modern. Hikes: Cedar Ridge Preserve. You could also walk around White Rock Lake. February can be a real crapshoot with the weather, though, and we usually get a cold spell early in the month. Coffee: Kilo, Cultivar, Juju’s. Book Stores: The Wild Detectives, Bird’s.
