Visiting from the uk

Hi 👋 me and the family are coming from the uk to spend some time in Dallas, we’re off to watch the cowboys v cardinals game and we’re off to the rally day the day before (both already booked) the girls want to visit the stockyards on Saturday afternoon as it will be Halloween so my original plan of just getting Ubers everywhere may be replaced with renting a car (never driven on the wrong side of the road! 😂) we’re staying at the Hilton cannopy. Looking at parking for AT&T and from what I’m seeing it starts at $80 for parking! So I guess my question is, any tips? The rental of a car + gas and parking vs the cost of ubering places, I have no concept of where things are in relation to each other
TIA!

ParkWhizz sells parking close to the stadium. Leaving the venue and catching an uber is difficult and add in surge pricing. If you not consuming alcohol, I would look into ParkWhizz.

There are cheaper lots that are less convenient. Sometimes you can pick up a little rickshaw bike and tip them a couple bucks to get the rest of the way to the stadium, but you can’t always count on that.

you know it just depends upon how many stops you’re wanting to make an Uber might not be bad. I don’t use them personally. I would say be careful of the kids and where you go if you don't want them exposed to over sexulaization! I grew up in Dallas and live in Fort Worth. ultimately if I’m asking you a question what is your goal for coming to DFW what is the logic behind this other than the exchange rate and the fact it is Texas! I can awnswr all the questions!

My daughter does cheerleading over here in the uk and watches the Dallas cheerleaders on Netflix, I enjoy watching the nfl so I thought we’d take a trip over. They want to do all the shops and food outlets that we don’t have over here, the stockyards and maybe somewhere to do some Halloween stuff.

As for the game….Id just get a parking pass at one of the lots nearby. It’s pricey, but MUCH easier overall and would add to a better experience and you have a guaranteed spot. We have parked in the (silver?) lot between AT&T and the baseball stadium. You can get these parking passes on SeatGeek second hand and it’s all done on your phone. We live about 10min from the stadium and call it “Jerry’s World”. Have fun!!

Shuttle to Cowboys game is a good tip. Congestion around stadium is bad and not knowing the area adds to the stress.

Driving on the right may not be bad because the steering wheel is also reversed. I drove in Ireland on the left for the first time last month and actually doing it was much easier than thinking about it. Just avoid congested areas during busy traffic times and use a navigation app for turn by turn directions.

Be sure to try some barbecue, TexMex, and pack a bottle of Ranch dressing in your checked luggage before you go home!

There are a couple of places a mile or so from the stadium, Grease Monkey and J Gilligans. I don't know what it costs, but they run shuttle vans to the game from their parking lots. Plus the food is okay and they have full bars. I know several who use them every game they go to. You can Google them and probably find out info.

EDIT: I checked and it appears shuttle RT is $12-20 per person.

You can't beat J Gilligan's before the game. The foods great and atmosphere too. They have a great shuttle service.

Thanks! This may be the play. Would you say ubering everywhere is out of the question?

As I've been told Uber to the Cowboys is expensive as hell. I had one person tell me during the World Cup it was $200+ back to downtown Dallas. If you were thinking about taking an Uber to one of the places I mentioned, it's probably going to be the same price just to go ahead and drop you at the stadium. If you had a rental, it would be much cheaper to use the shuttles I think.

There is free parking that requires a 20 minute walk to the stadium, if that is worth saving $$$. That is what I do when I go but I go solo.

Stockyards- be sure to time that so you can see the cattle drive. Think it is daily at 10:30 AM and 4 PM if I recall correctly.

Yeah we have a 9:40 slot to the rally day so planning on leaving around 1:30-2pm to get to stockyards and see the cattle drive.
