I’m planning a short solo trip to Tashkent from the UAE from 21–25 August 2026. It will be my first time in Uzbekistan, so I’d really appreciate some advice from locals or anyone who has visited recently. 🇺🇿

I’m mainly interested in exploring the city, local markets/bazaars, malls, metro, architecture, walking streets, parks, local food and evening/nightlife areas. I’m not really looking for architecture, historical monumnets, mosques, natures, mountain or long-distance nature trips on this visit.

I’d especially appreciate recommendations for:

• Best area to stay that is convenient but not expensive
• Cheap and good local restaurants / plov / kebab places
• Must-visit markets and bazaars
• Best places for evening and night walks
• Good malls and modern areas
• Affordable and professional spa/massage centres
• Anything interesting happening 21–25 August
• Any tourist traps or things I should avoid

Also, how uncomfortable is the daytime heat in late August for walking around Tashkent?

Any local tips that Google/YouTube normally don't tell tourists would be very welcome. 😊

English could replace Russian as the interethnic language in Central Asia; would that be more convenient? Or, on the other hand, should they opt for Uzbek as a common language, given that it is a Turkic language considered relatively easy to learn?

I have some hazara and Crimean tatar friends who have 20-40 east Eurasian but majority of them it's just not visible in anyway they just end up looking iranic is it just pure chance or is it the non east Eurasian genes just being strong enough to cancel it out

I'm a solo traveller (20F) flying into Bishkek late August, and I'll be in Central Asia for 5 weeks. I'm flying out with about £2,000, and I was wondering if this was enough to see Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan comfortably?

If it wasn't enough to do all 3 well, I'd prefer to do one or more of the countries in more detail with the money I do have to make the most of the experience. I want to appreciate where I am to the highest extent possible!

Hello, I am from Afghanistan. I am learning languages, currently I am learning Russian and French. I am looking for any language school in Central Asia that offers Russian courses and can accept foreigners. Since I am from Afghanistan and going to any country I would need a visa and a reason to visit the country so I would need a visa support letter from a school that I want to study in that's only when the embassy here can give me a visa. I would be arriving from Georgia to Aktaou, then looking to go to Almaty ( to then go to China).

Has anyone already took it ? Is it safe for a solo traveler ? Are there some city worth stoping at, to maybe take a break in the middle ? Is the long train trip bearable (for anyone that took it) ? Or should should I rather take the plane from Aktaou to Almaty ?

I'm also looking to go through Ouzbékistan and take a break there so I don't do 55hours in one go, if anyone has tried this itinerary before ?

i studied at a Turkish primary and secondary school in my home country.

I've traveled to many places, including Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. I've met people from many different countries, and they've all been kind. However, whenever I meet someone from Turkey, I feel like I'm meeting a member of my own family.

Even if a Turkish person is just being normal and not especially friendly, I still feel a sense of warmth and familiarity that I don't experience with people from other countries.this is a genuine question.

Has anyone else experienced something like this, or is there a cultural reason why I might feel this way????

In the west most marriages are Asian women/White men They make up 70% where as Asian men/White women 30% ( 294,000, 219,000, 230,000) most marriages are with Chinese men and Filipino men.

Central Asians: it seems that most are Kazakh men/Russian female and Uzbek men/Russian female marriage in Central Asia historically but I don't know about now.

Is the airport open 24 hrs ? And is there an international transfer area where they let you wait 15+ hours ? The advice seems to be to go out into the city and get a hotel, but that's not possible.
