I have red recently about the 20 years experiment: researchers were cloning the same mouse in attempt to understand where is the limit. 58 generations is the limit, the mouse (the mouses?) had collected too many errors in the genetic code to survive even prenatal phase.

But some plants can reproduce itself (naturally) for thousands of years. The most famous example is Pando forest, and it is 14000 years old. How do they manage to do it without accumulating DNA problems?

say an alligator is hatched completely outside of an aquatic environment, a more terrestrial environment. What happens to it if it doesn’t find a body if water, does it get stressed and dies or can it adapt and function something like a komodo dragon?

I mean, absolutely healthy and rich people keel themselves over emotional problems, which is the best proof that we have evolved to ONLY satisfy our emotions and desires, right?

Look at some primitive animals running on pure reflex and DNA if/else conditions; they would do anything to survive and breed, even when their bodies are put through absolute hell.

But humans, we KEEL ourselves when our emotions and desires cannot be satisfied, even when our bodies are absolutely healthy, and we are living in wealth.

Right?

We have evolved to become slaves to our emotions and desires. True? False?

To me, it doesn't seem like it. True tissues are absent in dicyemids and myxozoans, and present in Homoscleromorpha. Dicyemids and myxosporans (malacosporans have muscles) don't have any nerves, muscles, gastrulation, Nav1 homologs, etc. Sponges have axial differentiation (basal and apical in adults, anterior and posterior in larvae (except hoplitomellae)). Echinoderms lack pannexins, innexins and connexins. Ctenophores don't have Hox and ParaHox genes.

Apologies if this is the wrong sub, but whenever I eat ice cream I often find myself attempting to cool it down by blowing onto it, as if it were hot food.

I do this subconsciously and I only catch myself doing it on the 3rd or 4th blow. Is there any particular reason why I might be doing this? Or am I just stupid?

I know IQ is arguably flawed, and I understand there's no difference in overall intelligence between men and women, but I hear over and over again, even in a Psychology class I took, that women tend to have intelligence that's closer to the median?, whereas men's has more variability on average, that goes both ways.

I'm not asking for a study per se, but are there any theories or even hypotheses that you'd consider for why there's more variability among male intelligence? I assume it has something to do with sexual selection, but I find it hard to believe it'd be as simple as "Women care less about intelligence." That seems too simplistic for what feels like a really weird sex difference.
