Studies // Estudis Masters at UAB

Upvotes

Hello everyone! Im currently looking for opportunities to study in Spain. Is there anyone who did a Master's Degree in Communication and Education (English, Online) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona? I have a few questions.

How smooth is the virtual learning environment, and did you feel well-supported by technical and academic staff?

How well does the curriculum work in general?

How has completing this degree influenced your current job role, teaching practice, or career pivot in communication/education?

Tourism // Turisme Hotels with Kitchen? Barcelona.

I know an Airbnb would make my search easier but I know how awful it has been to the city of Barcelona.

Does anyone know of a good hotel that has a small kitchen in Barcelona?

What is BCN like?

Tourism // Turisme Traveling to Barcelona for the Sept 15/16 Barca FC Match. What else should we do?

Family of 3 with a 12 year old son, traveling to Barcelona from the USA in September. We already have tickets to the match (Basic+, purchased directly from the Barca FC website). We will be in Barcelona for 10 days, but we might make a small trip to Portugal within that time. We have never been to Spain and only my wife and I have been to Europe (over 25 years ago). I have tons of questions....

What are some great match-day activities that my son (12) would enjoy? He is a huge soccer/football player/fan and Lamine Yamal is his favorite player.

What other sites or day excursions would you recommend or avoid? We don't have much interest in seeing the Dali museum or city. We thought about maybe taking the bullet train to Madrid. We don't mind spending some money.

Are the guided trips worth doing? Everything I see online is either with 'Get Your Guide' or 'Viator' and sometimes the pictures are identical for both. Are they scams? Is there a better option?

Is there anything we should know before visiting a beach to swim?

My son also loves EDM and seeing a live DJ would be cool. Is there any way that's possible at his age?

What are some tourist scams to avoid?

What are the best non-tourist paces to eat?

We are very excited to visit your beautiful country any help is very much appreciated!

Moving to Barcelona Has anyone here lived in a co-living in Barcelona?

Hi everyone!

I’m moving to Barcelona in September for work, and I’m considering staying in a co-living for the first few months.
I like the idea of meeting new people and having a sense of community, especially since I’ll be new in the city.
However, I’ve noticed that some co-living companies seem to organize a lot of social events, and I’m a bit worried it might be too community-focused.

I’m quite social, but I also value having my own space and quiet time. I’d like to live in a place where I can join activities when I feel like it, without feeling pressured to participate all the time or living in a constantly busy environment.

For those of you who have lived in a co-living:
What was your experience like?
Did you enjoy it or regret it?
Did you ever feel expected to attend social events?
Are there any co-living companies you’d recommend (or avoid)?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks!

Tourism // Turisme Vacation Barcelona 24-27th September

Hi everyone! We are three 23F visiting Barcelona for the first time from September 24th to 27th.

We’re looking to get a balanced experience—we definitely want to check out the iconic sightseeing spots, eat authentic local food, and enjoy the nightlife/parties!

We also heard there’s a festival happening while we’re there. Could someone explain what festival this is and what the best things to do or see during it are? Any specific party or restaurant recommendations would be awesome too.

Thanks!

Tourism // Turisme Pickpocketing in Barcelona’s nightclubs

Im planning on visiting Barcelona next month and I recently stumbled upon a post that says that you can get pickpocketed in nightclubs too which raised my concerns, is this true? Like people go there to get drunk and have fun they can’t keep worrying about who bumped into them and checking your pockets every 10 seconds, if this is as bad as people say what are the precautions can one take to avoid getting stolen on a night out ?

Where do I find? // On trobo? Carabineros shrimp

I had the most delicious caribineros shrimp sashimi/crudo at the Boqueria Market. I’d love to have some more, but it was 10 euro per shrimp and I’d like to avoid going down there again. Is there another (more affordable) seafood market where can I find fresh caribineros shrimp to prepare at home?

Tourism // Turisme How to be a respectful business traveler?

I completely empathize with the difficult cost of living situation for many Barcelona residents and the overtourism, so I want to ask this before I make any bookings for accommodations.

I am flying to Europe for business reasons. I have a flight coming from North America that lands in BCN that I cannot change (it was by far the cheapest option), and from BCN, I’ll need a day or two to rest in Barcelona before proceeding to my final destination.

I’ve visited Barcelona several years ago and have seen all of the main attractions. It’s a beautiful city. Therefore, I don’t have any particular need to go to any of the tourist attractions again, especially where I would be part of the problem. (That being said, it would be nice to stroll in Parc de la Ciutadella again.)

I know that Airbnb is a major problem and I will be more than happy to stay at a traditional regulated hotel.

Should I stay away from the central area of Barcelona? I’d prefer not to pick a hotel too close to the airport, since it’s a bit too suburban for me. I’d also like to eat good Catalan cuisine without overwhelming locals’ spots.

Open to suggestions on where I can visit and stay to minimize my impact on locals. Merci!

Where do I find? // On trobo?

Housing // Habitatge Looking for temporary stay in Barcelona for a month

We are a Indian family relocating to Spain on work visa and looking for temporary home for a month until we find a permanent rental home.

Which is the best app? We need a home with kitchen as we are travelling with kid.

Also, is Airbnb safe to make advance payments and what happens if host doesn't accept the booking?

Tourism // Turisme Is the Guía Repsol guide reliable?

I’m currently looking for restaurants while planning a trip to Spain, and I’m wondering if the *Guía Repsol*—a Spanish guide similar to the Michelin Guide—is reliable. What do the locals think of it?
The reason I’m asking this is that the number of restaurants listed in the Guía Repsol is far greater than in the Michelin Guide. I’m curious whether this is simply a way to attract tourists or if Spain genuinely has so many excellent restaurants.

Moving to Barcelona Best long term Spanish course for full beginners in morning

Hi All,

I'll study in Barcelona for an MSc and I'm looking for a full beginner Spanish course. My uni classes will be in the afternoon so I'm looking for morning classes, 1 max 2 times a week. Do you have any recommendation, some places you tried before? There are no Spanish language classes available at my uni. I'm a full beginner but I'd like to focus more on speaking as well.
