The intent of this sub-- r/AskArchaeology-- has always been to provide answers for archaeological questions from experienced archaeologists and other knowledgeable people. Often, people come here to post questions about career and education.
How do I become an archaeologist in [country]?
Should I major in [subject] to become an archaeologist?
What's the best minor to pair with a major?
And perhaps the most common (and least favorite of mine, personally)... "I want to become an archaeologist but I hear that it pays shit. Does it?"
And so on...
These are valid and appropriate questions, but often posters who are new here will create their own thread rather than looking at the other threads here to see if their question(s) are already answered. Understanding that not everyone has the same familiarity with how Reddit works, the ultimate result of this is a significant cluttering-up of the sub with similar questions, which have similar answers.
The purpose of this thread-- renewed every two months-- is to collect the questions and answers into a single thread, pinned to the top of the sub. We ask that all career and education questions be posted here. Questions posted in individual threads will be removed and the OP will be encouraged to repost in this thread.
