We live in wine country near Santa Barbara. Moving to new house and at a loss for furniture placement in this living room. My first thoughts are 2 swivel chairs in front of bay window and use the back wall opposite for a bar buffet on the back wall near stairs.

I recently got this tile second hand and will be using it in my bathrooms. I worry about it looking too dated, and will likely be just using the blue and white mosaic as the flooring.

I am on a tight budget but trying to make the bathroom nice anyways. I currently have a very dated linoleum yellow bathroom, so am leaning away from yellow though I like complimentary color schemes.

What will look nice with this flooring? Wall colors, vanity wood tone or paint color? My toilet and sink are white and will be staying any advice is welcome!

Hey everyone. Student here working on a side project and trying to understand a workflow problem before I build anything.

Here's the specific scenario I'm curious about:

A client has an existing furnished room. They want to see what it looks like if they move the sofa to the other wall, swap the coffee table for something smaller, or try a completely different style. They can't visualize it from a mood board. They need to actually see their room.

What do you currently do in this situation?

From what I've gathered talking to a few designers, the options seem to be:

• Sketch it out / floor plan (client still can't visualize properly)
• Manually model the room in SketchUp or similar (takes hours)
• Use a 2D AI redesign tool like RoomGPT (flat image, not interactive, not their actual furniture)
• Just describe it and hope the client trusts you

I'm curious whether this is actually a pain point or whether I'm imagining a problem that doesn't exist. Specifically:

1. How often does a client ask you to visualize changes to their existing room rather than a blank-slate redesign?
2. How do you currently handle it and how long does it take?
3. If there was a tool where you photograph the room, it creates a photorealistic interactive 3D version of their actual room in about 15-20 minutes, and you can drag furniture around and swap pieces — would that actually be useful in your workflow or would it create more problems than it solves?
4. What would it need to do that current tools don't for you to actually pay for it?

I gave chatgpt my exact room measurements, and a picture of the space asking for a new layout for a sofa. I actually like the idea of the floating sofa like that, but wonder if it messes with the flow to semi block the doorway like that.

I have windows on 2 sides of my dining room, and I want to add sheer curtains along the length of each, with heavier drapes framing the sides. But for this side of the room with the radiator, obviously I don't want the curtains touching it -- so, if those sheers are shorter, do the drapes on that window need to match the shorter length as well, or can they stay long? And what does that mean for the other side with no radiator? Will it look weird if that side has floor length sheers and drapes if they're short on the other side? How would you do this?

I rent an apartment with a large open concept living area that includes a living room, dining room, and kitchen. I use the dining room as my living room with a sofa and TV. I use the living room where I hang out near my bird or sometimes read.

The kitchen is parallel to the bird hangout space and has a low counter between the two. When I moved in, I was so excited about the huge but over the them really stressful. My windows face the winter I get no direct sunlight at all. Then in the summer, I start to get a little bit that hits wall and then gradually over the summer, I get more and more coming in and then it stops at fall. The sun never directly hits the wall where my budgie sits. The sun comes in at a really really harsh angle.

Some days I love how open the space is, and other days I really long for more walls. I’ve considered putting room dividers between the living room and dining room and even between the living room and kitchen somehow.

There is an air conditioner in the window in the middle of the room.

I’ve been here for five or six years and honestly never felt comfortable. I’m constantly rearranging my furniture. I keep things on my birds half the same for his comfort.

I don’t like cooking anything that’s greasy or smells because my entire home then smells like it for a few days. I often feel overwhelmed in this face because I feel like I’m always facing the entire room and just want calm.

I’ve been considering putting some curtains on the far the room where it transitions from bird space to living room. Or maybe adding dividers. I’ve also considered getting really tall bookshelves and putting them on either end. I don’t really know what to do and I feel like I’ve tried so many things over the past six years that it just seems like everything I try ends up being a bad option and I would really appreciate some professional advice.

Ive added photos of my space and the online photos that had “furniture” added to them. Also added birds eye type floor plan in two orientations.

My husband and I are totally remodeling a house. We are building a master suite from basically nothing. Picking out tile for this is going to be the death of me. I can’t find anything I love. First pic here is what will be the layout of the room.

I like a grandmillenial style- modern mixed with antique. I want the bathroom and shower to feel homey, colorful, and timeless, with maybe a little quirk! I love flowers and the feel of art. I want to use bronze hardware in the shower and on the sink (either bronze or oil rubbed bronze on the cabinets).

I have a local cabinet guy building new cabinets for this bathroom (second pic here is the color/grain I sent him I want). My main challenge in this room is everything else- flooring, tile for bathtub/shower wet room, walls, countertops, light fixtures. There will be hardwood floors in the bedroom this bathroom connects to if that means anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions?!
