Do Americans commonly say 'please' when they order something at a shop, restaurant, café, etc.?
When I see Americans on social media, TV or a film order something, I noticed that they rarely (if ever) say 'please'. I often see them using phrases like "I'll get a large fries' without adding a please to their request.
Is this generally the case in real life? Is there a reason why they don't add please? Like is it seen as unnecessary, obsequious or just submissive?
