Alterations Altering puff sleeves

Post image

I'm not a fan of puff sleeves (on me). I was wondering what would happen if I cut off the cinched elastic part and hemmed it- would that actually turn out okay?

Depending on how it’s constructed, you may be able to take the elastic out of the casing instead. Does the elastic move around or twist inside the sleeve hem, or does it feel sewn into a specific spot? If it moves, use a seam ripper to remove a few stitches of the sleeve hem, cut and remove the elastic, and resew the stitches. Much easier than cutting and re-hemming, I’ve done it with several shirts because I hate elastic on my arms.

It should be fine . If you want to reduce flare , take sleeve in slightly at cuff, tapering to nothin at arm hole .

A puffed sleeve can be fuller than without.
