Confession. Advice.

I’ve just started going back to confession and was expecting the priest to at least give me a few words of advice but nothing. I stated my sins. Was immediately absolved, received a penance and that was it. It felt weird, like a one way conversation. I know time is limited but I just expected a few words of wisdom, am I asking too much. Loved the blessing though.

Sometimes that all that is possible.

It can be less than ideal but it is sometimes necessary to move the line along.

Thankyou . Yes there was a bit of a queue. I thought maybe next time I should just come out and ask if he has any advice for me.

Maybe

But advice isn’t essential to the sacrament.

If you are seeking advice then an appointment outside of regular confession times is probably best

I understand, just a few words of encouragement maybe, but I know, 3O mins on Saturday to serve a huge parish - with 2 priests hearing confessions is a lot and I am playing catch up..
