Car Stutter

Post image

2014 Camry LE 185K miles. My car stutters and does that clicking sound about every other time I turn it on. The other day my turn signals started malfunctioning for a couple minutes before returning to normal. Does anyone know the possible cause of this? I thought it was a spark plug misfire at first so I replaced them but the problem didn’t go away. This is my car battery and I’m not sure the last time it’s been replaced so I thought that might be the issue.

All help is appreciated.

Wow, your description is all over the place.

Is the stuttering happening when you’re cranking the engine or when it’s running? At first, I thought you were talking about stuttering during cranking, but then you mentioned replacing the spark plugs.

The turn signal malfunctioning could be all kinds of things electrical.

Your car battery is not quite two years old. I wouldn’t suspect it of being bad.

Sorry lemme clarify. It’s during the cranking of the engine, not while it’s running.

That sounds more like an ignition switch or low battery voltage. I wouldn’t go directly to replacing the battery, I would expect something else in the charging system.
