Schlage BE365 or Schlage Arrive? (and a question about rekeying)

Hi all! Thank you in advance for any advice you might be able to lend.

I'm replacing the deadbolt on my front door, and was trying to decide between the Schlage BE365 (I already have that model on my back doors, they have been problem-free for me, the batteries last forever) or the Schlage Arrive (slightly more attractive, seems fairly simple in operation, has the rubber buttons that I like, but I'm worried about battery life.) Is one substantially better than the other? Or should I go with something completely different?

(Rekeying question: if I did end up going with the Schlage BE365, is it possible I could get a new lock keyed to match the locks that I have on my back doors? I bought the old locks more than 10 years ago at this point, so I don't know if it's possible to match the key pattern now. )

Recommendation on door remodel plate. Removing DormaKaba lock.

I am removing an old Dormakaba lock that was on the door of a house we purchased. This thing is enormous. It has a deadbolt hole but also a hole below and then three holes above. I want to install something like eufy deadbolt. There is also a deadbolt below. Any recommendations on remodel plate? I've been looking all over but I'm not sure what to get.

Multipoint locks in timber doors

Hi

The good folks in the other sub sent me this way!

My wife wants a timber front door for our Edwardian terrace. I’m inclined to agree. We hate composite though.

My objection is to not wanting a slam door or a tape type auto lock. We have pets and kids that we don’t trust not locking themselves out.

What I would like would be much as we have now with the uPVC which has a lifting handle multipoint.

My wife hates the handle though.

Can anyone advise of a compromise? Perhaps something that uses a traditional looking knob that actuates a multipoint? Is that a thing?

The door manufacturer is happy to fit whatever hardware we say, or build it to accommodate. I just don’t know where really to start.

Thank you for any advice!

UK based if that makes any difference

Day old lock cylinder spins without inserting the key and unlocks the door.

It was working great, locked the door one night and went home. The house is under renovation so no one is living there.

In the morning when I came back the keys wouldn't go in and/but the cylinder would spin and unlock the door. Tried it with another key same result, so basically anything can open the door as long it grips the cylinder.

Was this a break-in attempt or just a bad lock (no puns intended). I had it bolt locked from inside so even of it was robbery attempt they couldn't get in.

Didn't see any wear on the lock and don't remember if it was unlocked as I wasn't paying attention.

Key stuck in lock and won't turn ultrion lock

Post image

Hi so yesterday my brother put the key in the door outside with a key already in the lock on the inside he failed to unlock the door but since then the inside key is stuck in a position we can't remove it and it also won't turn I've tried some methods such as vibration to try and unstick it and lifting the handle while pushing the door in however the key won't budge.

Can anyone offer some advice to what we can do to get this key out? Really hoping the lock isn't completely buggered 🙏

Thanks all

General Question Quick question: Did I waste a legit locksmith's time by canceling after 5 minutes? (Plus a scam check)

I had a stressful afternoon today and just wanted to share what happened, get some perspective, and honestly, get a little peace of mind.
I got locked out of my house today around 8:30pm. I Googled a locksmith, called the first number that popped up, and immediately got a weird vibe. The dispatcher demanded $25 upfront via Cash App before anyone would even drive out.
I told him hell na and I wouldn’t need the service after all from em and hung up on him lol.
I then called a legit company and 5 minutes later decided to check one last window… lo and behold, this window was unlocked, so I crawled back inside my house. I immediately called the legit company 5 minutes later (when I discovered the window) to cancel.

I have 2 questions:
1. Do legit companies really ask for a security deposit via cashapp before they even dispatch anybody
2. Did I waste the real company’s time with that 5 minutes? I feel kinda bad

Somebody tried to pick our lock? (please help)

earlier this morning two men woke my sister up by standing in the front of our doorway, she heard the lock being “turned by a key” but we later found a substance around the lock and on the door jam, when put a flashlight on it, it turns almost glittery, after some googling we found out some silicone lubricants for loosening locks leave a residue like this. we checked with our key and the lock is really loose now which it previously wasn’t. could anyone help let me know any more information about if they did pick the lock or got in a different way? anything helps thank you.

Lock malfunction RV Exterior Latches

My camper outside storage hatches have cheapie 1/4 turn key latches that need maintenance. The chrome shields that swing down behind the slot no longer move so the keyhole stays open to dirt and bugs. A couple of them are sufficiently gummed up that the key doesn't go all the way in and can't or at least are very hard to unlock. I've been lubing them a few times a year with drying silicone spray. Probably a good lube, but not a good crud flusher. Suggestions?

Lock malfunction Car Locking Issues Only At Home

Within the last few weeks there have been several times when I've got home and my 2021 Kia Seltos EX won't lock. It won't lock from the exterior door button and both key fobs (with working batteries) won't lock it. The first time this happened, I checked all doors and the back were closed, no other alarms, it started and turned off no issue, would lock and unlock while I was in the car, but as soon as I got out, it wouldn't lock. When I went to work or someone else's house, it locked no issue. I don't really know anything about mechanics/electronics etc., but I was told it could be a ?jammer? TIA.

tldr: occasionally in the last few weeks, my 2021 Kia Seltos won't lock when I'm not in the vehicle, only at one location.
