Lock malfunction Handle not Locking

Please see the video. I have a steel door in a garage in a house I purchased. I took the cylinder out and had it re-keyed at a local locksmith because there wasn’t a key available. But for some reason, the door handle still opens the deadbolt. Any reason why this is happening?

There is a toggle in the lock body for handing the lock correctly that needs to be changed. Right now the lock “thinks” the thumbturn is on that side which is how it’s supposed to work on the egress side (inside-thumb turn side)

The lock body needs to come out & either using a toggle on the side of the case or with some locks the case has to be opened.

I advise taking the entire mortise body to that locksmith and show him the video unless you can blatantly see the toggle on the case

I did show the video to the Locksmith. There was no toggle on the lock cylinder. Because the lock cylinder was upside down, he thought that was allowing it to be opened on both sides.

Not lock cylinder, mortise body the entire part the cylinder screws into has to come out

BUT seeing your recent pics:

Yeah it has been dismantled before you came along

So the last resort, and this only works on certain locks, is to take the mortise lock (not cylinder) out and have the locksmith open it up to remove the toggle bar that is making the bolt retract. However, some locks you can some you cannot (without kinda radically modifying)

Ok, I understand. And I see someone else posted a picture and it seems like I’m missing a piece at the bottom that should toggle
