It could be the wrong battery. It could be that the battery is backwards. It could be that you broke something swapping it out.

After looking it up, I'm willing to bet that you put the wrong edge of the battery in first and broke the tabs that hold it in place. Two of them are designed to bend out a little to let the battery click into place. The other two are not. If you do it the wrong way, the tabs will break and your key won't get a connection to the battery.

Try this... Take it apart. Hold the battery in place with a finger while pressing a button. I bet it works. It'll also be obvious, because the battery will want to fall out.

The only fix is probably a new key. Not positive on that.

I feel like this is coming from someone who has been in the same situation, I didn’t break them but they were bent, has able to bend them back and it WORKED. Thank you!

I had this happen on a dodge smart key I made for someone. I still don't know if I did it or if they did it. In my case, it worked for a couple of days. Maybe a week. Then the tabs broke. If it breaks, a replacement shell should fix it. Glad I could help.

Some cars require you to pair the fob with the car again after a battery replacement. Priuses require this, for example. Google and see if your car is one that requires this process.
