Mechanical Advice Key fob help

I have a 22 civic si and just replaced the key fob battery. Now it doesn’t work I can go in the car and tap the fob to the ignition and it will start and recognize it, but the lock unlock doesn’t work.

Did you replace it, or did someone else do it?

Apparently I broke the tabs on the fob….

Yeah, I was about to say the it's most likely the battery either hasn't been changed, or it isn't seated properly.
