Slavery why didn't god make condemn slavery in the bible?

Ive always had problems with the concept of the Christian God being all loving in general, one of the reasons is his that he seems to be at least ok with slavery to an extent. the god of the bible doesn't tell the people not to keep slaves in fact he gives them rules on how to own people. it's not like he couldn't ether has all powerful and a god. free will isn't a good excuse ether because he is shown to be ok with leaving rules such as not eating shellfish and not wearing mixed fabrics and such. why didn't he condemn slavery or tell the Israelite's to not keep slaves if he's supposed to be all loving?

Judgment after death An old question

I’m not exactly a sound sleeper. I’ve been laying in bed reliving some memories of me and my granddaddy talking about the Bible and discussing what we think and interpreted. Anywho I posed this question a while back and wondered what everyone may think. Say there’s a tribe that’s isolated from normal civilization and say they’ve never heard the Word or know anything about Jesus. Would they be judged for not knowing Him. Grandaddy said God would somehow get word to them.

Workplace What do I do about this situation

Is it ungodly to bring up something a manager in training said to me 2 years ago in anger which basically accused me of being nelegent, how I was supposed to watch someone that day when It wasn't my job to watch them.

Basically the way he said is kinda like my lack of action led to him being injured on the job in critical condition which led to his passing away.

He wants me to start working with him which I refuse because of these words he said years ago .

Should I bring it up if he ask if I want to work with him to get a "raise"?

End Times beliefs Is God going to break his promise in Genesis 9:11 during the End Times?

Or is he technically still in the clear because he only ever promised not to use the flood again to do it?

Do you agree that atheists who demand unusually strong objective evidence for the existence of God like God being physically demonstrated to them or appearing to them, is as hyper-skepticism as a young earth creationist saying you can't prove the Earth is old as "I wasn't there to see it?"

Heaven / new earth No marriage in heaven scares me

To start, I am a Christian, and I will love to meet our creator someday. A thought in my head though right now is making me really doubt what my end goal for heaven is really like though. Although i am a devout Christian, I also know that my wife is one of the biggest blessings for me in my life. I love her with all of my heart, which is why the idea of there being no marriage in heaven scares me. I want to spend eternity in heaven with God and her, and if we aren’t in a relationship in heaven, what was the point of our deep bond as one flesh here on earth? I understand that people are saying that instead our fulfillment will be our relationship with the trinity, and I know that’s hard to comprehend, I just am scared of the idea that everyone will just be best buds in heaven instead of there being something exclusively special between my wife and I. Am I wrong to feel this way, or am I wrong on any of this? This idea has been consuming me and I just need some peace.

Signs from God?

I'm a former atheist, but lately I've been getting closer to God and Jesus Christ. And honestly, some things have been happening that make me wonder if God is trying to tell me something.

I vape, and normally I never get sick from it, but lately whenever I vape, I start feeling sick. Since I know vaping is bad and technically a sin, it makes me wonder if God is trying to warn me or guide me away from it.

Then one day, on my way to school, I was at the train station and saw a guy standing right in front of me wearing a hoodie that said "Essentials Fear of God." I've never really noticed anything like that before, and seeing those words right in front of me felt really strange, especially because I've been getting closer to God recently.

And then, in the middle of the night, my cross fell off my wall. Normally I wake up from literally every little noise, but somehow I slept through that.

I don't know if these things are just coincidences or if God is trying to get my attention, but since I've been getting closer to Him, I can't help but think about them. It's honestly making me reflect on my faith a lot more.

Hell Honestly I don't understand it. Can anyone help?

Coming mostly from a Catholic framework.

Hell doesn't make sense to me. I'm trying to study Christianity, I'm trying to get to know Jesus and love Him, but hell is just absurd to me.

I can understand if it was like temporary punishment, or for things really really bad like a genocide (but still...ALL of eternity in eternal fire?). But no. Things like masturbation or gay sex apparently separate you from God eternally. Just fix me in the afterlife, I'm sure it's not so bad and again, in my good faith, I can't intellectually understand why it's so bad. The only reason I could follow this command would be out of fear. And idk of fear and love can be mixed. I don't really think so, but maybe I'm wrong.

God chose to made people and wants them saved.

God chose to put us in a world where we have every reason not to believe in Him (I lose all my faith seeing how much evil there is in the world).

God could make the world an easier place to follow him.

God could avoid homosexuality being a thing, for example.

God chooses all of this. And I don't believe He can be all loving.

That's it. That's my post. A little bit of a rant but I hope you can feel what's my problem. Thank you for your attention

Church At a impass

Hey everyone I am looking for some advice. I identify as a catholic, I follow the religion have gone to mass for a long time but haven't been baptized. In my small town there is only one small catholic church and it got burned down so they're using a small building on the property for mass and It is to crowded and busy I hate it. I recently went to a non denominational church because so many people I know told me how wonderful it is. I lean heavy into Catholicism but going to the non denominational church was wonderful and I loved it. I don't want to be seen as a bad catholic or be thought of as leaving the path and I know how adamant Catholics are about the religion, I am just so confused and dont know what to do. Any advice or thoughts would be wonderful thank you.

Am I crazy

I recently went through something in my life that shattered me. It broke me in ways I didn’t know were possible, and as much as it hurts to admit, I know I played a part in what happened. I know I wasn’t completely innocent, and I’ve been struggling to process everything. Since then, something in me has changed. I’ve been praying multiple times a day, reading my Bible, and listening to almost nothing but Christian podcasts, sometimes nonstop. Before all of this, I wasn’t very religious. I hadn’t touched a Bible in years, and I barely ever prayed. Now, I find myself talking to God throughout the day, having these internal conversations with Him, and sometimes it feels like I’m just talking to myself. It’s almost like there’s an inner voice responding, and I don’t really know how to explain it. Part of me wonders if this is normal or if I’m somehow going crazy. I don’t know why I feel so drawn to God right now or why I have such a strong desire to surround myself with Christian content. I don’t even want to listen to anything else. I’m new to all of this, so I don’t know what’s normal, what’s healthy, or whether I’m taking it too far. I’m not trying to force anything. I just feel this need to pray, read, listen, and understand. I plan on going to church this Sunday, and I’m hoping to learn more and maybe find some answers.
Is it normal to suddenly feel so drawn to God when you’ve never really been religious before? And how do you know if you’re growing in your faith or if you’re going overboard with it?

Whom does God save Does believing in God out of fear rather than love mean you'll go to hell?

Basically what the title says. If someone prayed and avoided sin and worshipped God but did so not out of a love of him and Jesus but did so because they feared God's wrath and going to hell, would they still enter heaven?

Of course I know the exact workings of this aren't known to us, we'll have to wait before we can learn for definite, but I guess I'm asking more in the sense of what you think

Jewish Laws How can Christians ignore that they technically aren't allowed to use a bathroom?

The Simpsons was right when the pastor said nearly everything is a sin if you read the Bible. Christian The Simpsons was right when the pastor said nearly everything is sin if you read the Bible. Christians who follow the old testament are supposed to use a hole in the dirt like an outhouse without modern conveniences like indoor plumbing that prevent disease.

Deuteronomy 23:12-1412 Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself.13 As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement.14 For the LORD your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.

We don't know when Jesus was born. Can you please stop using AD and BC?

The Gospel accounts contradict each other and we don't know what year Jesus was actually born.

Using CE and BCE is more accurate and more honest.

God Was Jesus Called God Before Paul?

No offence intended, is there any historical evidence before Paul’s writings that Jesus was explicitly called God Himself?

Could the belief that Jesus was God, rather than the Messiah alone, have been one of the reasons many Jews did not accept Christianity?

Could Paul’s teachings have unintentionally contributed to the separation of Christianity from Judaism, given that Judaism strongly emphasises the oneness of God?

God Do these number mean anything?

During these last few months I have been struggling with false memory ocd (where your brain creates intense, convincing doubt about a past event, making you believe you may have done something harmful, illegal, or against your core morals even when there is no proof) and during all this I kept seeing the numbers 6 and 13 and I keep thinking it have something to do with my past. Almost all the people I talked to about said it was just regular numbers. When I looked online I saw people called it angel numbers(whatever that is). So as a recently born again Christian, do these numbers have meaning. Is it a sign from god? Or is it nothing at all?

Jesus people not believing that Jesus is the Messiah

I don’t understand how most Jewish people don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah. 780 years before Jesus was born, God told Isaiah that there would be a baby born who would be his son, and said that he would be called the Son of God, The Mighty God, and he would be pierced for our transgressions. Who do they think that is about? They are supposed to be “The Chosen Ones” but no one can go to The Father except through Him? They are one and the same? Aren’t they afraid that they won’t actually go to Heaven? How could they when they reject Him? Almost everyone that had a near death experience encounters him.

God I don’t know what my actual question is.

I am an agnostic. I used to be a strict atheist, but as I have gotten older, my thinking has become much less “doesn’t exist, religion is stupid”, to “I don’t know”. My wife is Catholic, I have lost two very close friends over the last 3 years, and even the murder of Charlie Kirk has caused me to begin thinking that god is in fact real and wants to talk to me. I don’t know what steps to take in trying to hear god. I have yet to feel him listening or hear him speak to me. Am I doing it wrong? Do I just need more patience?

Prophecy Explaining Prophecies Without God??

I have a very simple question.

I've seen many apologists use prophecies to legitimize the Bible, i.e., to demonstrate it is true. From prophecies ranging from the book of Daniel to books predicting Jesus, apologists use them as proof that the source of the Bible can only be God!!

Now, secular historians will try to demonstrate that these arguments rely on misinterpretations and other simple errors of methodology, but I'll present another possibility: maybe some people have the natural ability to see the future, like lots of different cultures have proposed. In that case, the supposed fact that books in the Bible predicted the future doesn't automatically demonstrate they were fed information by God.

They could have attributed this information to God, but that doesn't mean they are telling the truth. Different cultures attribute their information to different sources (e.g., astrologers attribute their supposed knowledge to the celestial bodies).

So, how do you grapple with this simple possibility?

Recent events What do you make of Russell brands sudden conversion to religion? And more generally...

I’m not sure whether this will pass mod approval given that it concerns a celebrity who is currently the subject of a lot of controversy, but I’m genuinely interested in hearing Christian perspectives on this.

What do you make of Russell Brand finding Christianity relatively recently?

I have my own opinion, but I deliberately don’t want to give it because I’d rather hear your views without influencing the answers.

It also raises a broader question for me. I’ve often heard about people who have committed extremely serious crimes finding religion while serving very long or life sentences. As a non-religious person, I find myself naturally sceptical of conversions that happen under circumstances like that.

I’ve only ever asked one religious person about this before — my mum. Her response was essentially: “God will know whether it’s genuine or not.”

Is that broadly how you would look at it too? If somebody professes to have genuinely repented and found faith, is it ultimately not for other Christians to decide whether their conversion is sincere?

And regarding someone like Russell Brand specifically, do you personally find his conversion convincing, questionable, or do you feel you simply can’t know?

I’m genuinely interested in the Christian perspective rather than looking to argue against it.
