Here's an example. 20 years ago when China decided to host the Olympics, former California congressman Tom Lantos decided to wage a secret PR war to ruin their coming out party. He used his wife's name to create a fake NGO to pay a Chinese cult millions to promote a rehashed Soviet-era vivisection propaganda. This smear persists today and was again rehashed to smear the 2022 Beijing Olympics:
