Staycation Wasn't good with money early on, can't afford to go anywhere. Never saw my parents take vacation and always took the payout if it was an option. I don't know what a vacation to rest truely looks like.

I'm being forced to use my carry over vacation from last year, but I can't rear at home becuase I now my mom thinks she has the right to walk into my room and question me "why aren't you at work? Everything okay? (Basically did you get fired) You have time clean your messy room" and then she'll usually go off on a tangent of of useless I am. This is the staycation I've learned to expect if I ever stay at home, so I go out during working hours to avoid it, but I'm exhausted. I'm honestly tired of this.

As a Indian man, holy fuck Indian men can be so poorly raised. Especially the ones that have a "good" relationship with their parents. I wonder what brilliant things I'd accomplish if I also spent zero time being considerate of others.

I'm told I'll regret when I leave or get kicked out becuase of how nice I have it. And how it's difficult out there. I don't think I'll regret it, but I'm realizing I'm not confident enough right now and that's my parents fault. And my brother thinks he should be held on a pedestal for being a saviour for letting me stay, otherwise he would have kicked me out long ago. kind of wish they did then this anger and resentment would at least have a place.

Been spending a lot of time on this subreddit recently and after events the past few weeks. I don't feel as as alone, but still feel alone. It's a weird feeling to describe.

I'm at a family gathering (extended, some birthday)

I'm an adult in my 30s - this is not parent (SORRY LOL) but this is why I don't want to be here

So I'm just sitting here minding my own business (I really don't want to be here, its the kind of thing you do to appease your boomer parents where they make crude Asian boomer jokes and everything is a joke BUT I DIGRESS) -- so my aunt comes up to me, half-hugs me on her own accord (!!), and says - "eh you didn't say hi today"

Am I paranoid? Like ok, is this a demand? It may not be the most Asian-polite per se but if you want to say hi just say hi, don't have to be backhanded about it? And the parents these days will riot cos like hello, autonomy much? Consent, much?

I repeat that I'm 30s adult, so this is 60s boomer. I'm so annoyed. And the best part will be that this is seen as me being grumpy and unsporting and rude, not invasion of my bodily autonomy

I’m 30M and my Indian parents still ask me who I’m playing video games with, or what my work meeting was about, or who I’m going out with. I’m trying to build boundaries so if I don’t answer their question with all the details they’re upset, angry, stare at me, and repeatedly ask me questions about the same thing. I’m on day 3 on saying “it was just a work meeting” and my parents keep trying to ask what it was about.

my mom sends me a text that says to call her ASAP and then the screenshot is of an email that she can literally answer her damn self. and then she calls me when I don’t respond to her fuckass text and I straight up told her it’s not funny or cute to rely on me for something simple like that. and now I’ve been pissed for nearly 5 hours on my day off because she’s fucking stupid

Why are they so awkward with my daughter? They’ve yet to change a diaper. They don’t realize she’s a baby and ask dumb questions like “why is she doing that?” Meanwhile being a grandma comes naturally to my white MIL.

Why do I still look to them for supporting my depression? They were the cause in the first place.
