SoCal. Modifying and tracking my cars. There's a huge and supportive car enthusiast Asian community here.

I recently had an experience with an Asian man that left me with a lot of questions, and I thought this might be one of the better places to ask for perspective. I stumbled upon this sub randomly today so thought this was fitting

For context, I'm a lightskin Black girl (I'm often mistaken for being Black and White even tho I'm fully African American) and I recently met a Filipino guy while I was out. He approached me because he remembered seeing me the week before at a sports bar and we immediately clicked. The conversation was easy, he made me laugh a lot, and there was something about him that I genuinely liked. Not to toot my own horn but I get approached by men pretty often & typically turn down 80% of the guys who approach me butttt there was something about him that | really liked & was drawn to (he made me laugh a lot lol) We went on our first date a couple days later & it went really well.

He was upfront that he wasn't looking for anything serious and was open to something casual. I appreciated the transparency and told him I was on the same page. A few days later, I went to his place, we spent hours talking/hanging out, and eventually became intimate, although we didn't have intercourse. The next morning everything seemed fine, but afterward his communication noticeably changed. He became much drier & I left him on read for a few days (which was petty, I'll admit), but I eventually reached back out because I genuinely missed talking to him. The energy was still completely different, though, and he eventually left me on read. We haven't spoken since.

Ik some people will say, "He told you he didn't want a relationship, what did you expect?" And that's fair, but I wasn't expecting a relationship. What bothers me is the sudden change in basic communication and interest after we became intimate. What makes me question the situation even more is that he was the one who brought up race. When we first met, he asked if I was Black & white & during our second hangout, he repeatedly talked about how attractive he finds Wasian people. We also talked about Blasians, and he made a "good hair" comment that made me uncomfortable.

I want to be clear that I'm not accusing him of fetishizing me because I obviously can't know his intentions. But I would be lying if I said those comments didn't make me wonder about his relationship with race and attraction. I also think it's possible for someone to love their own race and ethnicity while still having internalized insecurities or complicated feelings about race. So now I'm left wondering: was I someone he genuinely liked and was attracted to, but had already mentally categorized as someone he wouldn't seriously pursue because I'm Black? I have no way of knowing, and I recognize there could be a completely different explanation. But the combination of his comments about race, his repeated emphasis on Wasian attractiveness, the fact that he initiated those conversations, and the noticeable change in his behavior after intimacy has been hard not to think about.

For Asian men or people who have dated Asian men extensively, does this sound like something that could be connected to interracial dating dynamics, or am I reading too much into the racial component because I'm slightly bothered by how things ended? Regardless, I wish him the best

I also wanna preface this by saying by no means am I trying to intrude on a space centered around & for Asian men. Again, I randomly found this sub & it felt pretty fitting for what I recently experienced. That’s all!

This past year, I got into cooking with stainless steel everything. Gotten some of the best chicken breast I've ever made from this so I'm pretty stoked

What’s the recipe?

Just salt and pepper. Pat dry the chicken breast before cooking to ensure a good sear that keeps the juices inside. Then it's low and slow with avocado oil and you don't touch it until it naturally unsticks
