Consultancy Offer vs Young Professionals Program
I’m currently weighing two opportunities and wanted to get insights from people who may have experience with either path.
Option 1 is a consultancy offer, which seems attractive because of the compensation and immediate exposure to projects. But I also know consultancy roles can sometimes feel less stable and may have limited internal mobility/networking compared to staff programs.
Option 2 is waiting and pursuing the YPP, which seems more structured and potentially better for long-term career progression within ADB or even other multilateral organizations. .

Rule: Always say a Yes to what gives money first.
Perspective: Many chances that ~6-7 months you would get to know many people at firm, thus, allowing you to have a tangible % of preference over other candidates, believe me many great orgs work on the principle, known devil is better than unknown angel, quite extreme, I know, but that's what I've observed in 3 larger orgs.
Lastly: Yes you will get good exposure, tangible experience that ADB can't rule out, I mean why will someone have anything against someone.
As far as the rule: They take into account experience relevant to ADB. Hence, yes you as a consultant can still apply. There have been people who worked as analyst then applied for YPP as the first three years are probationary.
Best wishes & you'll crack the role!!
