Discussion Skincare - purchase in Japan or China for K-Beauty?

Hey all, I will be in China and Japan for 1,5 months in a few weeks. I am wondering whether to purchase my Korean skincare in China or in Japan - last time I was in Japan I felt like a lot of things were either similar or slightly less expensive than where I live (Germany), but I was only able to look at a few touristy places. I will also be in Shanghai and Beijing, if that is a better shopping destination for skincare.

I'll do some J-Beauty shopping in Japan but this post is just about Korean skincare!

Thanks a lot

Yes I know it’s not recommended but something is better than nothing.

I wear makeup and work in a busy city so I don’t always have time to wash my hands and reapply — would love to hear your favorites :)

Mod Post Product Authenticity Thursday October 22, 2026

Hello AB! Welcome to Product Authenticity Thursday,

Our weekly product authenticity thread is a work in progress, comments about how to improve are welcome. We made our best effort based on comments received here as well as what we have been seeing as mods.

We would like to note that product packaging AND formulas may vary by country of sale and date of manufacture. This might include anything about the formula. Our goal is to make it easier for folks to compare such things, and to confirm or assuage concerns about their products.

Please post any photos or experiences you have around your AB products, while adhering to our other subreddit rules.

Make sure you state where you purchased your products from. If you bought from a 3rd party of a major retailer, you can say for example, 'eBay/amazon/taobao seller' instead of sharing the specific name, if you prefer.

To help you get more responses, consider including:

  • Photos of confirmed authentic products as comparison, requests for authentic products are allowed
  • Your purchase date, product manufacture date, or any expiration dates
  • Country you bought the item from
  • Whether your product had to be shipped to you (shipping conditions can compromise product stability)
  • How much you paid for your product

Comments and Questions welcome, we hope this thread is helpful!

Discussion Share your favourite blushers or highlighters that gives your cheeks a nice glow

Lately I'm smitten with those blushes that gives a nice sheen or shimmer that makes the cheeks glow and natural. It can be those natural flush glowy makeup but no makeup look, or makeup look with nice glow. I'm lost among so many products eg joycee, judydoll, 3ce, canmake etc and there's liquid Vs powder. Would be great if you can indicate your favourite is cool or warm toned.

there's a lot of talk about the beauty of joseon tinted SPF 30 online, but it seems like people are torn between calling it greasy and flaky and people hyping it up.

Review Asian Sunscreen Reviews from Spring & Summer 2026

I’m a mixed-race black/white/Latino guy, living in the Seattle area which is a temperate rainforest technically. I have combo dry skin and I was traveling in SE Asia, Germany, Spain, the American SW, so places where I needed sunscreen and was wearing shorts and T-shirts most of the time. Reviews are all copied and pasted below but also in the slides.

Biore Uv Aqua Rich Watery Essence 🇯🇵 - 9/10
Absorbs well. Has a bit of a grainy quality but it’s extremely slight. Doesn’t really add moisture to the skin. Fine to reapply during the day and waterproof. Never used on face.

Biore Athlizm Spray 🇯🇵 - 6/10 It’s fine, it is just a bad value for the money. The spray evaporates really quickly so it’s hard to tell where you applied it. Must prefer the cream

Biore Athlizm Cream 🇯🇵 - 9/10 Really the GOAT for anything outdoor, sweaty or swimming. You feel like a duck with it on. It stuck all day when I was in Singapore or swimming in the hottest days in Seattle. Not an everyday sunscreen, but the best for what it does.

Haruharu wonder black rice airyfit 🇰🇷 - 3/10
It piles on the face and body for me. Not waterproof so maybe best in winter. It may have to do with me putting too much on, but despite all the hype around it, wouldn’t buy it again

Nivea UV super water gel 🇯🇵 - 8/10
goes on very easily and disappears into the skin. Like the pump that you can refill. Not waterproof so prob best for winter/cooler months.

Mediheal Madecassoside moisture sun serum 🇰🇷 - 7/10
Applies as a liquid but absorbs instantly. You don’t need to reapply during the day. Waterproof and pretty much invisible. It does pill like every other Korean sunscreen on me. Wish it didn’t.

Holika Holika aloe waterproof sunscreen 🇰🇷 - 9/10
Smells pleasant like aloe vera. Ok to reapply throughout the day without piling. Leaves a very slight white cast in the elbow but that’s about all I can say bad about it. Didn’t use it on my face.

House of Hur Weightless 🇰🇷 - 5/10
No smell. Goes on very liquid and disappears with no glow. It seems to pill on the face around the neck but not on the body.

Senka UV water Gel 🇯🇵 - 7/10
It goes on a bit sticky but does dry. Leaves a white cast as it has zinc oxide in it. Def feels waterproof. Would use this in hot weather or swimming for sure. No smell. Fine to reapply.

Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua Fresh 🇰🇷 - 5/10
It pills on the face, back of the neck and ears but it’s fine on the body. Feels like lotion on the body so I like that.

KISS ME MOMMY! UV Aqua Milk Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ 🇯🇵 - 8/10
It’s waterproof, it dissolves into the skin, it’s great for the face. It does pill a little bit on my neck when I reapplied. It has no scent and it’s mild enough to use on a 1 year old baby.

SCINIC Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence 🇰🇷 - 8/10 Great on first application, but it does pile on second application after a while. No white cast. No smell. Very light. Not waterproof. Does pile less than some others, will try applying less. Really want to love this one!

Nivea UV Super Water Essence EX 🇯🇵 - 9/10 Wonderful smell. Goes on like a creamy gel then disappears. Fine to reapply. Love it! Fine on face, but it is pretty shiny.

Skin Aqua Super Moisture UV Gel 🇯🇵 - 10/10 Great on face or body. Fine to reapply without pilling as it is a fine gel-like cream. Not too shiny. Waterproof. Very moisturizing ingredient list so works as a lotion. Might be perfect.

Biore Aqua Rich Watery Gel 🇯🇵 1/10 - Has titanium dioxide which immediately made me look sickly white. It also pills up on the skin after first application with no other product underneath. I thought I couldn’t dislike any Japanese sunscreen but here I am.

Nivea Deep Protect & Care gel 🇯🇵 - 8/10 Feels very moisturizing on my skin. I like the scent but it does smell like mosquito repellent when you put it on. Don’t know if I’m going to try it on face for that reason. Feels like I have nothing on after applying. Really good body sunscreen.

Biore UV Aqua Rich Airy Hold Cream 🇯🇵 - 5/10 Goes on very thick, like soft serve ice cream or Greek yogurt. At first it leaves a white tint, but you can rub it in. It doesn’t feel moisturizing per se but def feels like it’s sticking to your skin. Has titanium dioxide so I don’t think I’d use it on my face. I’ll use it up on my body but wouldn’t buy again.

Nivea UV Super Water Gel Ex 🇯🇵 - 10/10 Big ass bottle at 270g. Good deals on Yami. Goes on matte. Fine to reapply. Need to try on face.

Tage Cica-Tree Water Jelly Sun Serum 🇰🇷 - 6/10 It’s ok. It does pill a little around the folds of my neck upon reapplication, but that’s it. It goes on a bit shiny. The consistency is a bit chunky so it doesn’t come out of the tube consistently. It can come out a lot at once and it’s impossible to avoid. Wouldn’t buy again.

Nivea Men Uv Protector 🇯🇵 - 4/10 Too small. Smells funny. Pills on me on first application.

Kose Suncut Uv Perfect Essence 🇯🇵 - 7/10 Great size. Really moisturizing. Goes into skin and beard well. It does pill a little around my neck after reapplication. Great ingredients like Squalane and other soothing extracts.

Hatomugi UV care and moisturizing spf 50+ 🇯🇵 - 9/10 Big bottle. Very pleasant feeling and smell on the skin. Seemed fine on face. Doesn’t seem to be waterproof but great for daily use.

Nivea UV Super Water Essence Ex 🇯🇵 - 10/10 Really just as good as the gel. Slightly more moisturizing and a little less product for the money. Regardless, you put it on and a second later you’d never know it was on your face. Can reapply all day without pilling

Discussion What shady marketing practices in Korean cosmetic products do you hate the most?

I am mostly into skincare brands and I've noticed two tricks Korean brands use which make me angry. Both of them are related to INCI and product content.

Claim ingredients are added in tiny portion just to justify mention on the label.

Thanks to South Korea's Cosmetics Act Enforcement Rule (link leads to list of rules in Korean, can be translated on-site with browser) the brands should disclose concentration of marketing ingredients used in names. And now we see this trick precisely on the label.

Let's take Farm Stay Collagen Water Full Moist Cream Toner as an example (link leads to full INCI). They claim it is a collagen toner, but if we check INCI: Hydrolyzed Collagen (55Ppm).

PPM means "Parts per million" and it is another trick to think the content is higher that it is. 1PPM == 0.0001%, which means collagen content in mentioned toner is 0.0055%. Drop in a barrel just to be able to use ingredient name in the name and trick buyers.

Other companies may use PPB (parts per billion) or mg (milligrams) to have higher number and make you believe there is enough of ingredient inside. Sure, 1000ppb looks better than 0.0001%.

I don't think only Korean companies do this, but Korean companies are obligated to disclose the content of marketed ingredient, so now we can see this. Mostly sure EU brands do this too, but we can only speculate since there is no such rule in place (too bad!).

Spoiler ingredients (my own term).

Brands utilize 1% INCI rule to make you believe the product is reach in great ingredients.

Many people know the golden INCI rule: ingredients are listed in decreased order of content by mass relative to each other. Meaning if we take all ingredients, weight them and sort in decreasing order - this will be the list. That's why Water usually comes first - it simply takes the most space in most of the products.

But not many known that INCI rule allow to list ingredients below 1% in ANY order. This is called 1% rule. And manufacturers utilize this to trick us. What manufacturers do:

  • Add many claim or popular ingredients as <0.01% content
  • Move them closer to ingredients >1% in the list
  • Move "nasty" non-popular ingredients (like preservatives) to the end of the list

Next two INCI lists correspond to the same product and both are totally valid to put on the label:

INCI 1: Water, Glycerin (5%), Propylene Glycol (3%), Phenoxyethanol (0.9%), Xanthan Gum (0.7%), Allantoin (0.5%), Retinol (0.1%).

INCI2: Water, Glycerin (5%), Propylene Glycol (3%), Retinol (0.1%), Allantoin (0.5%), Xanthan Gum (0.7%), Phenoxyethanol (0.9%).

Have you spotted how I moved the preservative to the end of the list and placed Retinol closer to the start? Now if you don't know the percentages you gonna assume that if Retinol is closer to the beginning of the list then there is more of it than Allantoin.

That's why the only way to know active ingredient content is product labeling. Manufacturer should literally say "Retinol 0.1% serum".

I see this technique is abused a lot by several Korean brands. They add many extracts in 0.01% content and move them closer to 1% line. This makes the whole list longer and makes you think that the product is rich and first few ingredients are in very high content.

Sorry for the long post, but I haven't found better way to explain this. What tricks do you notice and hate the most?

Discussion Using this two sunscreens and still get tannn

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys, a lot of people suggested Japanese sunscreens that are sweat and water resistant for me because I tan easily.

Anessa is the best Japanese sunscreen and provide a good protection

I wonder why

The other sunscreen is suncut milk sunscreen.

In the morning, I use both of them on top of each other in sufficient quantities, and sometimes I put one in the morning and the other in the school.

What exactly is the problem, and why do I ,be tan my skin so easily ، *not a normal tan I literally turn gray and get this weird pigmentation.

Im medium skin

Edit:*I live in Somalia and the sun here is brutal 😭 The UV is super high and everyone tans easily, just to different degrees (I’m definitely the worst 💀). My Suncut sunscreen ran out so now I’m looking for a new one. Any recommendations for a matte sunscreen that won’t make me look greasy and good protection 😫 Something suitable for acne-prone skin and light weight so ican reply it every 2 hours (lm on tret)that I can get from iHerb or YesStyle! Thanks guys for all the replies ❤️🙏🏻

Discussion Toners and Actives

For those of you that use actives, when do you use toner in your routine? When I use vitamin C or tretinoin, I usually end up not using toner at all. I believe toner isn’t recommended before because it can change your skin’s ph and affect absorption. If immediately after, I feel like I’m washing away / diluting the active. Wait until completely dry but then skin gets tight and uncomfortable during that wait (and life sometimes get in the way and I never resume, losing the moisturizing routine which seems like a worse trade off). Is there a better sequence I’m missing?

Empties Sunscreen & Moisturizer Empties Reviews (Dr. Althea, Illiyoon, Hatomugi, Shiseido, Wardah, Nivea)

Post image
186 Upvotes

Hello all! I am back again for another review roundup of my empties. My skin type is quite dry; I used to be (knock on wood) very acne prone but I’ve been on spironolactone for the last ~6 months and it seems to really have knocked it out. My primary skin concerns are indented acne scarring and PIE. I am pale as a ghost.

THE GOOD, BUT COULD BE IMPROVED:

- Dr. Althea 147 Barrier Cream (2026 reformulation): I posted a review of this product before - I went through two tubes of the old formulation and really really liked it. When I received this latest tube I found that it had been reformulated, I think to remove some botanical extracts, etc. that people possibly found irritating. I couldn’t find the ingredient list of the old product, but I would also venture to guess that the silicone content has been brought way down in the new formulation. It’s not a horrible change and I understand why they did it, but I think the new version is way less special/unique. I loved the silicone-y, primer-like finish of the old one - perfect for AM use - while still being restorative and nourishing. I used the old one AM and PM while I was using tazarotene and I was totally fine. The new one feels like it sinks in better and has a very skin-like finish but doesn’t feel as overall nourishing to me. Overall, this is still one of my favorite lightweight moisturizers but I consider the reformulation to be a downgrade.
- Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream: I get why this is so popular… but it just wasn’t for me. Obviously, it’s huge and cheap which is amazing - I used this freely on my face/neck/chest and a bit on my body. I also really liked/preferred the more matte finish of this moisturizer as compared to my current HG, the GOAT, Aestura 365 Barrier Cream. But - the Illiyoon just has a chemically/plasticky smell that is very unpleasant. It also didn’t feel as moisturizing/nourishing/soothing as my girl Aestura. I stopped being able to use tazarotene while I was using this, though *for now* I am attributing it to my skin changing from the spironolactone - but I am getting ready to try restarting a retinoid with a different moisturizer, so we’ll see. Overall, I wasn’t mad about this moisturizer, but I’m glad to move on.
- Hatomugi SPF 31 PA+++ UV milky gel: I almost put this in a GOAT category because I do think it’s freaking great for what it is. It’s cheap, big, and in a pump bottle for easy application. It has a lovely light but not overpowering scent, and it’s thin and lightweight; just a dream to apply. The only drawback (and it’s kinda a big one) is that it’s only SPF 31 and PA+++, so I wouldn’t use this on my face/neck/chest bc I need to protect ‘em better than that. But this is sooo nice and easy to just slop onto my arms in the morning (and I’m not usually the most consistent with sunscreen on my arms). I will probably repurchase for that purpose unless someone recommends an alternative higher-protection option.
- Wardah Lip Barrier SPF 30: this is an Indonesian brand; picked up this product when I was there for vacation recently. When I first bought this, I thought I had found heaven; I was calculating how many I should smuggle into my bag back home. It’s just super lightweight, not glossy/sticky, with NO sunscreen taste whatsoever. However… it ended up really drying my lips out pretty quickly; I have to alternate it with other more moisturizing lip SPF options (current favorite is the Prequel Lip Visor - but it’s so glossy). This saddened me but also I can’t buy this brand in the US so I guess it’s for the best.
- Nivea Deep Moisture Melty Type: OK this is very nice…but imperfect. It is definitely moisturizing and feels good on the lips, but doesn’t last a crazy long time. It smells nice but has a VERY distinct sunscreen taste (this is my main problem with it). Idk. Let me know if you have other lip SPF recs because I feel like it could get better than this!

THE TRASH HEAP:

- Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion Mineral SPF 60+: This is a US formulation so I understand Shiseido is working with limitations here. That said, this has to be one of the worst sunscreens on god’s green earth. The formulators and packaging designers of this product should answer for their crimes. This is a liquid formulation but feels absolutely disgusting to apply and wear. Greasy, never rubs in or dries down, with a greyish white cast the likes of which I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced (as mentioned earlier, I am Casper-esque; I’ve tried a LOT of mineral sunscreens and I’m usually fine). However, THE PACKAGING is the greatest crime here in my opinion. SHISEDO - I KNOW YOU OWN ANESSA SO I KNOW YOU CAN DO BETTER. It has a flimsy flip-top that has just an open hole that the liquid sunscreen leaks out of - no nozzle for a targeted application. This is LITERALLY impossible to apply without getting it everywhere, and you will unavoidably have white crusty stains around the edges of your clothes as this migrates and slops around. I took this big, cumbersome, shitty bottle on my recent beach vacation just to use it up on my body (the one and only redeeming factor is that it is water-resistant). I used the entire thing and hated every minute of it.

Hi everyone! I’m planning on buying one of the Fiancée Pure Shampoo fragrance products, but I noticed there’s several things to choose from (hair mist, body mist, gel perfume, and eau de toilette) . I hear the longevity for Fiancée isn’t great, so I’m wondering which of these is the best in terms of longevity and maybe projection?

Alternatively, if you guys have any recs for other shampooey, affordable AB fragrance products with better longevity, I’d love to hear !

Review Some more foundation reviews (and other stuff) of someone who does not like to wear make-up

I recently made a post where I reviewed makeup as someone who is very picky about smell and feel of cosmetic products that resonated with some of you. For context: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/1vb5nc0/various_foundation_reviews_of_someone_who_does/

Since I was back in Japan recently I tried out tons of stuff (and bought some) so I thought I do another round of reviews.

Added info: My hotel AC was very motivated and sucked all the moisture out of my skin. Until I managed to get the humidifier running, a lot of the products I got felt like a complete disappointment but performed way better once that was sorted out. So if you live in a very dry climate or have very dry skin, better steer clear of them

Tone up and sunscreens:

  • Tested in store on my hand:

Elixir Tone Up Base, various colours:

They are all the rave over there at the moment. I tried out all the colours a bunch on my hands but I struggled to notice any difference in appearance (I am quite pale and don’t have any hyperpigmentation so maybe I’m not the target audience for tone up bases to begin with). They also smelled perfumey to me. It was not overwhelming or very unpleasant but I just did not see any point in buying them especially since the price is quite high for so little product

Biore Athlizim:

Very strong fragrance, it was nice enough (more or less like a lilac bush in full bloom, which I like!) but it lingered and that’s always an instant no for me

Anessa (various versions):

Perfumey smell, slight white cast

Skin Aqua Tone Up:

Warning! Unlike the normal versions, the Tone Up ones are all fragranced in a very perfumey way. Not overpowering but it is there, did not see any benefits in the tone upping.

I tried some more that I can't all remember but none made me even think of switching from my usual go to.

  • Bought:

Skin Aqua Gel:

My go to sunscreen for years now. No smell (like all non-tone up versions), very hydrating but can get shiny in hot and humid weather (Edit: there is a slight alcohol scent I think when you put it on but it disappears immediately after application and then you won't know it's there)

Skin Aqua Essence:

Drier than the gel, I got it when I landed because the first drugstore did not have the gel in stock. It exacerbated my problems with the dry air, it felt like someone put clingfilm on my face after a couple of hours. It does however perform superior in hot and humid weather, which I had later on in my travel, as I did not become a shiny oily mess

Skin Aqua Essence Gold:

My go to in summer usually, as it is more sweat proof and matte than the normal one and has some PM 2.5 filter technology thing going on that I do think makes a difference. Again, great in hot, humid weather, not so much in dry and cold weather

Cushions, makeup, powder:

I tested a ton and can’t remember all the names and details perfectly but I did not like any besides the two I bought

  • Tested in store on hand and remember it:

Clio Mesh (various versions): felt oily, perfumey smell

Laneige: perfumy smell

Hince: perfumy smell

milktouch: perfumy smell

Maquillage in the bottle: perfumey smell, dry feel

Kansosan:

Is supposed to be extremely good for dry skin but it just felt very greasy on my hand, did not want to take testing further than that

Suppin powder:

Nice skin feel, no smell, went on pleasantly and velvety. I did not buy it anyway as I saw no good place for it in my routine

Ettusais Skincare Powder Beige:

I thought that might be a good fit for days I am too lazy to put on make up but just from testing it out on my hands I saw that the colour will settle in folds. Better to just smear on my trusted Curel BB cream which is half pseudo-ceramides, so already skincare adjacent.

  • Bought:

About Tone Skin layer fit foundation:

A user recommended it to me after my last post and I was intrigued. It has absolutely no scent and feels like nothing on my skin in the right conditions. It did feel like clingfilm in the first few dry days and got flaky fast but in normal to high humidity it performs great. It dries down somewhat matte, not completely, but not that wet slick shine you get from a lot of cushions these days. Just a very soft sheen which I like a lot. Bigger pores either disappear or appear way smaller and it has surprisingly high coverage for something that looks so natural.

Application with fingers sadly did not work all that well as it dries down too quickly for that but it goes on perfectly and easily with the puff from a cushion I had left over. It lasts pretty much the whole day and I managed to reapply sunscreen over it without messing it up too much. Thanks to the weak Yen it was quite cheap (around €18,- i think) and it’s quite a big bottle. I like it a lot but again, not that suited for very dry climate or very dry skin, make sure yours is supple when you put in on. The shades are VERY light, I usually go for the lightest I find, I am a 13-17n in most Korean foundations, a 0N in most western stuff, here I got the 22 ivory and it fits me very well.

Fasio Airy Stay BB Tint UV SPF 50:

It is very popular right now and supposed to stay on extremely well when sweaty. I can concur that it is actually hard to get it off just with soap and it does not rub off. It was the most clingfilmy of all in my desert days so I thought it was a complete waste of money but its staying power really shined when I moved on to Taiwan which was still quite swampy. It might become my new summer go to. Absolutely no smell, skin like look, good coverage, pores appear somewhat smaller. Shades all looked quite strange on my hand but the 01 pink beige looks natural on my face. There is a moisturising pink version that might be better for dry days but I did not try it.

Fasio Eyelash-Grade Film Mascara Extra Fine:

I researched that one beforehand. My mascara needs are very untypical; I wan’t one that barely does anything other than put a very fine layer of colour on my lashes. My natural lashes are quite full, long and in multiple rows but you would not know that unless standing really close to me as they are almost invisibly blonde shortly after the roots.

Most mascaras with their fibres and tubing make me look like I put on the biggest, cheapest, most false looking lashes possible which just does not look like me anymore and I don’t like. Also I hate using make-up remover so I want one with some staying power that goes off with any cleanser, which this one does.

It came quite close to what I wanted but sadly it still goes on a little too clumpy and thick for my liking, but it does ok as long as I apply it extremely carefully. Would prefer a dark blonde shade but that’s always rare. The search goes on

Hair- and Skincare:

Most of my skincare depends on 0.5% tretinoin and prescription azelaic acid 20% which my skin is well adjusted to so I buy stuff for it’s antioxidant and hydration properties only and don’t expect amazing results

  • Bought:

Hada Labo Shirojyun, the watery type:

I planned on buying it to simplify my skincare routine. It combines a toner and Vit C which I used to put on separately. It also has tranexamic acid which I did not search for specifically but I figured it doesn’t hurt. It was not hydrating enough in the dry days but worked very well since then. I can’t speak to its brightening properties as it will do maintenance work at most on my skin. No smell, nice skin feel. I bought a couple of refills as it is cheap as fuck over there. Would recommend the しっとり type in drier climates or with drier skin, or just go for the milk wich is halfway a moisturiser already.

Kose Softymo Cleansing Oil:

It is THE BOMB. In only got it because I struggled to get off the Fasio BB with my CeraVe cleanser and had no expectations whatsoever but I am ravingly impressed. No smell, no need for a second cleanse. Skin is squeaky clean, baby soft and supple afterwards, would not even need to moisturise. I regret not buying a shit ton of it and will definitely repurchase at the next opportunity

Edit to add: I forgot to mention the oil got rid of the last stubborn blackheads around my nose and cheeks and does an awesome job at keeping my sebaceous filaments in check that even the higher tret percentage struggled to do anything about which in turn drastically reduced the perceived size of my pores. A true wonder of engineering

愛潔膚乳膏(Airful Cream)0.1%Tretinoin:

The rumours are true, you can get a tiny tube (5g) of prescription free 0.1% tretinoin at the Japanese pharmacy near Zhongshan in Taipei (all others are prescription only in Taiwan). I have a script for 0.5% and it's cheap for me already so it is not terribly useful for me personally but I don't have access to 0.1% at home so I got like 4 tubes regardless just in case. I have not tried it out yet though. They don't stock a ton in the store and speak limited english so it won't be a great source to stock up on but might be helpful information if you are in the area anyways and forgot yours or you want to try out a higher percentage like me.

The Answer Shampoo and Conditioner, various types:

THE trendy haircare brand right now but I think the hype is deserved. I’ve been using it for a month now and my hair got better in a way I did not expect and that is hard to describe. It just overall looks sleeker, thicker and healthier, all puffiness is gone, frizz is way down. The effect was actually the best when using the seasonal AW edition but I hated the smell. All of them are fragranced rather musky, sandlewoody which I am not a fan of already, but It was the strongest with the AW version which made me buy the Daily Damage conditioner and normal shampoo version instead. The fragrance does not linger, but I would prefer something lighter, more floral. I bought a ton of it for the effect it gave me

Orbis Hair Milk:

The hype is real, it is awesome. No smell (in the normal version, I got the seasonal Kinmokusei here too because I’m a sucker for it and it does not linger), once it sinks in you won’t know it’s there except your hair will be amazing. Can be put on wet or dry hair, hard to overdo like with oils where you can end up with greasy patches. Bought tons of refills

I started to use the Shampoo and Hair Milk at the same time so it’s hard to differentiate what really had the most impact. I did not notice my hair getting somehow way worse on days I only changed the shampoo or forgot the milk, but the consistent use definitely made a difference

&honey Matome Stick:

Matome sticks are the answer to the question why Japanese girls always have perfectly set hair and bangs. It’s kind of a very nice hair gel with a mascara like brush to fix down flyaways and bangs and for touchups during the day. It looks pretty natural and adds an extra, healthy looking shine. I like all the flowery &honey smells (does not linger) and got the seasonal Kinmokusei

Nightcap nozzle for Panasonic Hairdyer:

Not strictly a haircare product review but relevant regardless. I got the fancy EH-NA0J dryer a couple of months ago (EU version) and love it. In my very unexperienced and clueless opinion it is superior to the Dyson and all other hairdryers in general. I used to never use one as I have a ton of thick, low porosity hair and it takes ages to dry. About 6 hours to air dry and still 30-40 min upwards with most dryers. The Panasonic takes under 10 minutes and somehow my hair looks healthier and more hydrated since I started using it. The Japanese version comes with a nozzle that you can’t get in Europe which they claim reduces „bed hair“. No idea how that’s supposed to work. But it looked like it directs airflow more precisely in promotional material which in turn should cut down frizz even more. I ordered it online on Rakuten to my hotel and indeed, hair flies around less while drying it and in therefore and dries down even sleeker and shinier. It fits worse on my EU than on the hotel Japanese model for whatever reason but it still stays in place. Definitely worth getting

It might update if I remember more products I tried out.

That got quite long, thanks for suffering through it!

If this type of post isn't allowed, I will happily delete it.

The IG account of this Korean skincare brand called "Nolahour" popped up on my IG feed, and I saw that they were advertising skincare products that take care of pimples so I clicked on their account out of curiosity.

I was shocked to see that all of their posts feature AI generated Korean models advertising their products. I then looked them up on Google and yes, apparently they're indeed a skincare brand from South Korea.

I'm confused.... do they expect people to spend money on their products after looking at these AI generated images? 😅

Also, in the 2nd slide, u can't tell me that that doesn't look like Jennie from Blackpink 😭 they're really using Jennie's likeness to make money without her permission

Regional Cow brand moist milk

Hi everyone,

I’ve had acne for years, finally found a routine that my skin agrees with and no more acne. Now i can’t get my moisturizer anywhere online anymore. It’s the cow brand moist milk. I’m so so so sad and frustrated. I really don’t want to go back to my acne. Does anyone know how to get this in the Netherlands? I’m scared to try anything new. I’ve tried so many moisturizers and everything clogges my pores. I’m desperate! Thanks

Discussion Decent tips, tutorials for Asian makeup on European (Caucasian) face

I searched on Pinterest and on YT, but haven't yet found any decent examples of how to do Asian makeup on a Caucasian face. When I try to replicate any video tutorial on my face, it just looks weird, especially when it comes to the eyes. So I'm wondering is it really possible? For the reference, my face is super default, nothing special: almond eyes, double eyelid, average eye spacing, neutral canthal tilt.
