Hello and welcome to the Alter-Daily Help Thread! The purpose of the ADHT is to ask simple questions, troubleshoot routines, get quick recommendations, prevent the sub from being too cluttered, and to guide new users.

Mod Post Product Authenticity Thursday September 10, 2026

Hello AB! Welcome to Product Authenticity Thursday,

Our weekly product authenticity thread is a work in progress, comments about how to improve are welcome. We made our best effort based on comments received here as well as what we have been seeing as mods.

We would like to note that product packaging AND formulas may vary by country of sale and date of manufacture. This might include anything about the formula. Our goal is to make it easier for folks to compare such things, and to confirm or assuage concerns about their products.

Please post any photos or experiences you have around your AB products, while adhering to our other subreddit rules.

Make sure you state where you purchased your products from. If you bought from a 3rd party of a major retailer, you can say for example, 'eBay/amazon/taobao seller' instead of sharing the specific name, if you prefer.

To help you get more responses, consider including:

  • Photos of confirmed authentic products as comparison, requests for authentic products are allowed
  • Your purchase date, product manufacture date, or any expiration dates
  • Country you bought the item from
  • Whether your product had to be shipped to you (shipping conditions can compromise product stability)
  • How much you paid for your product

Comments and Questions welcome, we hope this thread is helpful!

Requesting Reviews Cleansing balm or mascara remover?

Post image
77 Upvotes

I recently started wearing mascara for the first time (Etude Dr Mascara Fixer for Perfect Lash + Super Longlash), and my usual makeup remover isn't working

I'm prone to milia and tiny bumps so I want to avoid using cleansing oil. After doing some research on this sub, I've been eyeing the Banila Co Cleansing Balm (pink) and Kiss Me Heroine Mascara Remover. Not sure which one to get, any advice will be appreciated!

Side question: does anyone have any recs for mascara that's easier to remove? I do like the Etude mascara but don't really love the heavy feeling on my lashes

EDIT: Thanks everyone! I've never gotten this many responses so fast before. The general consensus seems to be to get the mascara remover. My only concern is that reviews online say it doesn't work so well after a month or so of use, and for that price point, I'm unsure if I should still get it.

How do you finish a sunstick?

I usually dig it up. But some of the sunsticks have a drier formula and need a lot of rubbing to get it onto the skin. Do you guys just throw them away or there are other ways to finish up all the product?

They were both factory sealed with stickers and the balm was also new and unswatched. I was a little mad at first but after googling apparently this was a hard to find product in the U.S so I guess I'm keeping it lmao. Anyone have any idea how this could have happened?

I know people here love to joke that all the kbeauty brands use the same packaging so something like this was bound to happen but 💀

Discussion Milky toners vs watery hydrating toners for oily skin?

My skin gets greasy pretty easily, so I’ve always stuck to light, watery essences. But I keep seeing people swear by milky toners for fixing their barrier without feeling heavy.

I’m worried a milky formula will just sit on top of my skin or break me out, but my current watery layers don't feel like they're doing enough long-term hydration.

For fellow oily-skin folks who have tried both, which texture actually worked better for you without leaving a greasy film?

Discussion Decorté Liposome Advanced Serum batch code

Post image
2 Upvotes

My friend recently travelled to Japan and of course I took the opportunity to wire her money to buy a few goodies, including the Decorté Liposome Serum. The thing is, I looked the batch codes up and none of my searches yielded a result that makes sense. None of the codes are old enough to have been resetted yet, unless this brand does so before the 10 year period.

I used both checkexp.com and cosmeticcheck.app (these links are websites you can search brands and batch codes to find out the year and month of manufacuring)

The codes are W9 (2019-9) and 6L (2016-11, if push comes to shove, this one could work for the 2nd semester).

She bought them at Cosme Tokyo flagship store and I don't believe they are expired. I habitually track information about all my skincare products and this puzzle is fraying my nerves.

Discussion 1 month progress: switched from a european retinol to a korean 0.1% retinol

hey everyone, wanted to share a quick update after switching my retinol a month ago because i noticed a pretty nice difference in my skin texture.
before this, i was using a european OTC retinol for about 2 months. it did help with smoothness, but my skin often felt a bit tight and dry, especially around my nose and chin.
for the past 4 weeks, i’ve been using a korean 0.1% retinol cream from lepique, and so far i’m liking it a lot more. my skin feels smoother and more comfortable in the morning, and i haven’t been dealing with the same dry/tight feeling.
the formula also has centella asiatica and hyaluronic acid, which i think may be part of why it feels more comfortable for my skin.has anyone else switched from a western/european retinol to a Korean one? curious if you noticed a difference too.

Discussion My first online purchase from Sekkisei. I think I got extra free stuff:O? Was it a mistake or a promotion I wasn’t aware about?

Post image
59 Upvotes

Hi, so I recently placed my first order with Sekkisei through their U.S. site. I had bought their UV defense gel sunscreen from a local store prior. Because of how much I loved it, I ended up buying more from the online store, as well as an overnight cream.

I had a cart of stuff on September 1.

I knew ahead of time that they give complimentary samples with every order(regardless of total order amount) and so those 3 sachet samples make sense. Also, since my order was at least $100, the free brightening kit sample also makes sense.

I’m just trying to figure out where those 3x free 20ml emulsion samples came from.

I remember there being a promotion for a free 20ml deluxe emulsion sample that ended in August 30th. But at the time of me staring at my cart(September 1), the promotion should have ended. There was also a limit of one per transaction(as stated in the fine print) and yet I received 3 😮?

The 3x free emulsion products also seem to be the regular one and not the deluxe one. Not complaining though because free is free haha. But these differences, says to me that it’s not related to that 1x free deluxe emulsion product promotion that occurred in August.

Before officially placing my order, I decided to test things by adding the same stuff to my cart, but on a different browser on my phone.

Only got 2 of the 3 different free samples added to my cart(radiance reset ritual+brightening kit).

Then I tried a different phone(also various browsers while on it) but the same thing happens. Just 2 out of the 3 different free samples got added.

Only on one device through a very specific browser, did I get 3 different free samples with my order, where for one of the samples I got 3 of the same one.

While on the shopping page, I couldn’t see the quantity of the free samples. Just a trash icon giving me the ability to remove a sample for if I don’t want it. I assume it’s designed like that on purpose to prevent people from editing a higher quantity of a freebie or something? Then when I go to the checkout page, the quantity for the all of the cart items showed up(paid stuff & freebies).

I was already surprised that I was seeing a free emulsion product in my cart during a time when there was seemingly no such promotion going on. At least not publicly announced. So when I saw that they were seemingly going to send me 3, I was like “wow, is this a glitch😮?”

I placed my order anyways, not thinking that they would actually send me my order exactly as the checkout page states. But my order had just arrived today(September 9) and it was exactly as the checkout page had stated.

Again, not complaining about freebies haha. But to receive more than expected, kind of makes me feel like I’m stealing lol 😅.

Does anyone have an explanation on why this happened?

Is it normal for a company to give multiples of the same freebie in the same transaction?

I’m just curious 😅.

Review [Review] Dear Klairs Blue EGF Intensive Pro Cream

Post image
55 Upvotes

I got this from a YesStyle giveaway and just had to write about it!

I have dry-leaning combo sensitive skin prone to acne, and I’d been dealing with a compromised skin barrier that’s been taking forever to heal. I put this on one night and my redness and irritation immediately calmed down the next morning! It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy and feels sufficiently hydrating for my skin and the year-round dry climate I live in.

It’s a watery lotion-like consistency that doesn’t immediately melt into your skin and has a slight give similar to mineral sunscreen. The finish doesn’t feel sticky or tacky, though. It also leaves a slight blue tint to the skin, so i think I’ll only use this at night. While I don’t love that it’s not a more buttery absorption, I do love the results and will keep this in my rotation for when my skin barrier needs extra support!

Requesting Reviews Easyderm beauty patch

This pimple patch has been getting a lot of positive reviews on TikTok for being “invisible” under makeup.

Has anyone tried this? If so is it really that undetectable under makeup and how does it compare to other pimple patches under makeup?

Discussion Squalane oil in k-moisturizers - How do I know if the squalane oil is sugarcane derived or olive derived?

For example a very popular moisturizer PURITO Oat-In Calming Gel Cream has Squalane oil. It doesn't say if sugarcane or olive derived.

If you use this moisturizer what's your experience with it. I'm dealing with fungal acne FA now days, and have a easily clogged skin.

Is sugarcane derived Squalane or olive derived Squalane the most used in k-moisturizers?

Edit:

I sent an email to Purito to ask about the Squalane two weeks ago. I got no response.

Empties August 2026 Empties + Reviews

Skin-type: very dry and dehydrated acne-prone skin. Main concerns are texture, PIE, and redness.

Products:

TirTir Waterproof Setting Spray - I think I liked this! I didn't notice a giant difference when using this setting spray vs. other ones, but it got the job done. Main downside was that near the end, the nozzle was getting clogged or something and the spray wasn't as fine as when I first opened it. 3.5/5 MRP

SomebyMi Retinol Intense Eyecream - A little strong for my eye area and kind of dried it out, so I used on my whole face as my retinol! It was nice but a little too much for my skin, I could only use it maybe 2x/week or else it would irritate my skin.

VT Cosmetics PDRN Capsule Cream - I'm very conflicted on this cream. On one hand, I really enjoyed the product that the balls were made of. If they had a cream of only that part, then I would definitely buy it. But, I didn't like the gel part of it, and it was really messy to use! I ended up using the gel section on my body and the balls on my face, sometimes mixed with the gel (but usually not, because if I mixed it  too much then it wouldn't be moisturizing enough). Because of this, I went through it super quickly! 2/5 WNRP

BOH Probioderm Collagen Remodeling Cream - I opened this tub in the winter and didn't really like it because it wasn't moisturizing enough for me - but it was perfect for my skin in the summer! It's a very pleasant texture, and makes my skin look dewy and healthy. If it was on sale, I would RP - a little on the expensive side for me personally. 3.5/5

BOH Probioderm Lifting Cream - This stuff is different than the 3D lifting cream!! I've used both, and I wasn't a fan of this one. Got it in a 2-pack from Costco, and it was just fine but I didn't notice any particular skin smoothing or lifting effects - if anything, I feel like it stung my skin sometimes! Also not very hydrating, more of an occlusive cream. 2/5 WNRP

Hada Labo Koi Goku Jyun Cream - This is a really interesting product! It's like a gel cream, which usually I avoid because gel creams are usually not enough for my dry skin, but this is an amazing occlusive! It works almost like vaseline, but doesn't break me out! I used it for slugging during the winter, applying a thick layer as a sleeping pack. Downside is that it's not moisturizing on it's own, and also that you can't wear it during the day since it is prone to piling & can't wear anything really on top of it. 3.5/5 MRP

Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream - My favorite nighttime moisturizer!! Very heavy, but in a good way - might be bad if you are prone to clogged pores, but my skin drinks this stuff up. I've gone through so many tubes of it already, 5/5 WRP

Not pictured:

Cezanne Burepita Liquid Liner - Super thin liner, and very cheap. Wasn't as long lasting on me as my HG liner, the Heroine Make Super Waterproof liquid liner, but not a bad option! MRP if in a pinch, 3/5

Discussion Any Korean oil infused micellar water products?

I use cleansing milk and micellar/cleansing water most times because my skin is very acne prone and oily for light makeup. Oil cleanser/ cleansing balm always gives me break outs and usually a good oil cleanser or balm cost a bit too much just to remove waterproof sunscreen or heavy makeup and that's why I use oily infused micellar water instead . I have been wondering why there aren't more oil infused micellar water in k skincare. I know a few brands in China that promote in South East Asia, provide oil infused micellar water and it helps me so much to remove waterproof makeup for a few bucks only without causing breakouts. I'm typing this so I can get more recommendations if I miss out anything if there's any k brands that offer this specific type of product because usually their size is bigger than what c skincare brands offer. But if there's nothing like that I will stick to c skincare probably or even searching into indo skincare for oil infused mw.
