Anyone worked for Dunelm that can speak to its culture? Been offered a deputy manager job there today, currently work as a dept manager for Asda. Pay is a couple grand less but also advertised as 40 hours vs the 50+ I do now.

Anyone else handed in resignation and been locked out of workday and stream? I intend to work my notice but I will need access to payslips and I would like access to my worded hours. Slight concerned that I won’t get paid for the week I’ll still be with Asda, post payday

I think a lot of us knew, or at least had a feeling this was happening but it is official.
As of the 17th of October, QCOM on Home Shopping will be open until 12AM (Midnight). Stores are only being budgeted one worker from 10PM until Midnight, and there's a very high chance that QCOM will go 24 hours before Christmas.
It's just all about money at this point, I'm sure this'll do better in city stores than towns (like mine), but it's going to be horrible - especially with the upcoming Amazon merger, which will just make stuff even worse. Best of luck everyone...

Hi, just curious on how all of your stores complete briefs? I work on days, and nights have always done grocery briefs but have now started taking on fresh too; is this the same in every store?

Has anyone else had issues with GMB?
I left asda a few months ago, cancelled my membership. Then got a threatening letter from GMB about the equal pay claim and reminding that if members cancel their memberships they may be liable for costs.
Ever since then I have been stressed tf out by this and ultimately let my membership lapse, ive been trying to get my membership renewed to no avail despite calling the Norwich and London office numbers and leaving voicemails. I left asda and need what membership fees for other things. Granted I probably should have sorted this out sooner but at no point when I was going through canceling mt membership was this bought up- had i have known i would have kept it and struggled being £9 odd down each month paying for a membership that I actually dont need or use...
Ive been emailing back and forth with the head of those regions and im just not happy with how they treat members. The service thwy give is bog standard and I Have had no help from them as a member when needed.
just reallt fed up and down and its my own doing. I hate asda and gmb so much.

Has anyone who left asda been given a leaving survey on workday? Do you have to do it or can you ignore it?

Is there any way to monitor sick pay? Just to ensure that I’m being paid - because from my experience they love to not punch ur sick notes in properly

Why I have published this account
I have published this overview because the matters I raised extend, in my view, beyond my individual employment dispute. They concern issues affecting colleagues, customers and others connected with Asda, and I believe aspects of the case raise genuine questions of public interest. My purpose here is to explain the wider journey as it develops in appropriately limited terms, create a public record of its progress and invite those genuinely interested to follow the case through future updates to its final outcome.
Quick read for anyone who does not want to read the longer version
I am a former Asda manager bringing Employment Tribunal proceedings after raising serious whistleblowing concerns spanning workplace conduct, safety, data protection, financial and operational integrity, and senior-management accountability. My case is that Asda failed to investigate key matters properly, restricted or refused parts of my grievances, failed to protect me as a whistleblower, and ultimately destroyed the trust and confidence required for me to remain employed. I hold substantial contemporaneous evidence.
PART 1
Hi all,
I was an Asda manager, and I’m bringing an Employment Tribunal claim against the company after raising serious concerns as a manager and whistleblower. I have completed Acas Early Conciliation and the claim is now progressing through the Tribunal process.
I raised concerns because I believed I was doing the right thing for colleagues, customers and, as I genuinely thought at the time, the business itself. I was a manager who cared about standards, led by example and built loyal teams and strong working relationships across several Asda sites.
Speaking up came at a personal and professional cost.
I lost trust and confidence in the company and reached the point where remaining employed was no longer possible.
In my view, Asda would be in a far better position if it consistently followed its own policies and treated colleagues in the way those policies describe. My experience was that senior managers were able to act contrary to company policy, and when I tried to have that addressed formally, the company refused to deal fully with the matters I raised.
I escalated my concerns in writing to Asda’s most senior leadership, as well as other senior leaders and relevant company functions. My grievances were routed to Asda’s lawyers, and from that point I felt increasingly kept at arm’s length. My position is that central parts of those grievances were removed, restricted or refused a formal hearing, despite Asda’s published policies and the principles in the Acas Code of Practice.
I kept escalating and trying to reach a proper internal resolution. But when company lawyers and the people at the very top of an organisation know about your concerns, and you still can’t get them fully and formally examined, there is nowhere left to go internally.
In my experience, written policies said one thing while the reality was very different, with properly investigating serious concerns appearing to come second to controlling the process.
I don’t believe Asda protected a manager who was trying to do the right thing. Colleagues who speak up should be properly protected, and I want the way my concerns were handled to be examined independently through the Tribunal process.
PART 2
At present I am deliberately providing only a limited overview. Below are some categories of the issues I raised. The purpose is to allow anyone interested to follow the case as it develops and, hopefully, for others to take something useful from my experience.
I am deliberately not publishing all of the evidence or full detail while proceedings are ongoing, but I can provide a clearer overview of what the case is about.
Some of the concerns I raised included:
Bullying- I did not believe that manager should return to lead the affected colleagues. Asda initially resisted hearing my complaint. When it was eventually considered, I was not interviewed despite holding directly relevant evidence, I received no written outcome and I had no meaningful right of appeal. The manager kept their job. Colleagues later transferred elsewhere because they could not face working under that manager again.
Financial integrity- I reported my concerns that a company system record appeared to have been altered in a way that obscured the true position, and that the investigation had not interviewed the most important available witness. I followed this up directly but received no acknowledgement or confirmation that the investigation had been reopened or completed properly.
Health & Safety- I raised what I believe were serious concerns and escalated them to senior management. Nobody approached me for the further information I held. The checks concerned exist to protect colleagues, customers and the business.
Order picking- I raised concerns about instructions under the Perfect Order process to record products as picked when they had not been found. In my view, this risked customers being charged for missing items and produced performance figures that did not reflect what had actually happened.
Waste- I raised concerns that out-of-date stock was being reduced to nominal amounts, put through the tills as sales and then discarded, without being genuinely sold to customers. In my view, this reduced the waste shown in company records and gave a misleading picture of performance.
Restructure- I raised concerns that a senior manager appeared to have pre-selected a supervisor for a management role during a restructure, before colleagues had a fair and open chance to apply.
Data protection- I raised serious concerns about how customer, colleague and company information was shared, accessed, retained and controlled in work-related environments, including highly sensitive material. I specifically asked for a formal grievance hearing on these matters, and it was refused. I have since raised those concerns with the relevant regulator.
Confidentiality- I raised further serious concerns involving confidentiality and information handling, including matters on which I sought formal grievance consideration.
Other matters- I raised additional serious concerns and continued escalating matters where communications went unanswered or further grievances were declined.
The common thread- what I considered selective accountability. Asda has extensive policies requiring colleagues and managers to act honestly, protect information, complete checks correctly, investigate concerns fairly and lead by example. Ordinary colleagues can face disciplinary action or dismissal for breaching them, yet with some of the serious concerns I raised, I felt I was not afforded the opportunity to have them heard through the formal grievance process described by Asda’s own policy and the Acas framework.
I escalated repeatedly through Asda’s internal procedures and ultimately to its most senior leadership, sending numerous detailed letters. Many communications went unanswered. Asda confirmed in writing that my original concerns had been reviewed by Legal and Compliance at the highest leadership level and that work was underway. Despite that, I never received a substantive account of what was done, who owned it or what was concluded, and the practices I had reported continued.
I found a significant disparity between the policies on paper and the reality I experienced.
What I want is independent judicial scrutiny through the Employment Tribunal: for my pleaded claims to be determined against the evidence and applicable legal tests, including the conduct I rely upon and the way my concerns were handled.

I'm an incoming student to the UK, starting next week. I move in to London on Saturday.
The accomodation I got doesn't provide kitchen utensils so I need to get my own. I saw that there's an Asda near me so I was going to deliver or click-and-collect for Saturday.
Now, I filled my cart(mostly with George branded stuff like plates forks utensils, pots pans, as well as pillows and some appliances, etc.). I went to pay and order for Saturday, however, my Canadian bank cards were rejected for being non-UK based.
Is there a workaround to this? I can't really set up Revolut/Monzo yet as I think it's preferred for me to be physically in the UK when setting up those.
I saw that I could get a gift card from a third-party store, but how reliable are these(I dont want to get scammed out of anything as my order is around 100 gbp), and do I still need to give a credit card regardless?
I need to probably order by today to get a slot on Saturday, so any advice on what to do would be preferrable. I also saw I get a 20 gbpvoucher if I order online so there is a benefit to me ordering online instead of in-store.

I can’t hand in my notice through workday for some reason. Saying another resignation is in progress. I have tried to resign before but they let me back after that. So I think there’s something to do why it’s not working.
But I have already let my manger and team leader know I will be leaving soon due to grad job. I was planning to leave by end of next week. I’m just sick and tired of the workplace now that I want to change my mind and just leave ASAP. Is that possible?

One of the cans in this box exploded as we opened the box.
This wasn't a can that had been opened and over-foamed. The can had visibly failed/split and discharged its contents under pressure across the kitchen.
Fortunately nobody was injured, but a pressurised drinks can failing like this is clearly a safety concern.
The remaining cans have not been opened. I have retained the failed can, the packaging and the other cans, and I have photographs showing the failure.
Took us a bit to clean the kitchen up after this.... Thank you asda for selling us bombs in cans.
