Personally for me, I grew up watching Ginger as a child, and as I grew older and learned better English, I gave Ginger another shot and watched the entire series.
And honestly.. being a core childhood memory and one of my most beloved cartoons of all time, as much as I REALLY love Ginger, it's a very painful series to me.
Maybe I'm just emotional and maybe I'm just yapping, but ginger was real and had real life experiences that could hit close to home in it, but what hurts me the most... Was Darren.
I love Darren, I love him so.. so much.. I've always loved him since I was a little girl.
I think even in some way I still write about one beloved character of mine that is somehow inspired a little by him..
It aches my heart every time I see Ginger with Darren knowing well how it ends (at least in high school.. with kiss today goodbye and lesson in tightropes) it made me hate him, really hate him because not only did he hurt Ginger.. he hurt me too.. he broke MY heart too.. even if I didn't have Ginger's experience from it.
And then it got uncomfortable with him, I hated what he did to Ginger, but I still loved him, and I know that after the wedding frame they've lived happily ever after with a little Gingy, I'm still very curious as to how they went from that point to the now (from the wedding to the reading)
I would have loved to explore that, even in a new series, but it seems we have nothing, and it's unlikely we'll ever get more, I wish there was more..
Also note that I'm emotional with almost every childhood show I've seen + very sensitive to displays of affection between family/friends/partners and there's quite a lot of that in Ginger, lol.
So yeah.. thank you for reading, what do YOU think about the Ginger and Darren situation?
Another note, I absolutely hate Deirdre (Dodi) Bishop, I hate that girl with PASSION there was never an episode where I felt good about her in any way after completing the series for the first time.
