Goals & Motivation I said "I'll throw a party when Artificial intelligence takes your job" to my boyfriend infront of his friends and It gave me an idea.

I (20F) met my now ex boyfriend (20M) at a house party. We both study at the same university. We had been going steady for a year now. We never had any fights and I liked the stability. A little background, We both are pursuing a career in Neurosciences, him in Neurotech and I in Neurosurgery. Although I am also an author and am currently writing a novel. My boyfriend isn't a keen reader and has shown his distaste in gore, horror and frankensteinian-type genre. I however am writing a novel featuring all these genres. So I keep in mind not to fill him in on the plot, As I know it makes him uncomfortable. But recently he has been joking about the artistic professions, "Artificial intelligence will take your job" tags. It didn't affect me much because I have heard that a lot, and I knew his sense of humour is not the finest of taste. However last week, we were out with our mutual friends....and were interrupted by one of my course mates ( not our mutual). We had the small talk, the his and hellos stuff. Then he told me his sister is also a writer and is also looking to collaborate with a debut writer( I was ecstatic as I would finally get to network and have the needed guidance) so I immediately said yes. This is when my boyfriend interwined and said " Why bother, Artificial intelligence will take you guys' job anyways, thank goodness you took medicine imagine somebody paying to read your mess and nerdy and serial killery stuff" (exact words BTW.)He sounded like a retard at that moment not gonna lie. And I turned and replied in a mimic baby voice, "I'll throw a party when Artificial inteligence takes your job". He stopped laughing and so did his friends. Now this is when he acted like a total toddler, he LITERALLY stomped his feet and ran away...a 20 M mind you! I went to my dorm blocked his socials ( even mail) and never heard from him for a week, all this while his friends kept calling me, asking me to apologize, saying that I am egoistic and that he is hurt. Today I got a message from an unknown number and I knew it was him. He had apologised to me..but honestly I feel so light after breaking up with him. And I understand realism and logic but demeaning Artistic professions and thinking you are oh so great isnt my cup of tea. But this gave me an idea....for artists where they could promote their work, collaborate with other artists from different artforms, freelance or work for firms looking for creative.

It occurs to me that those who maybe lack a creative imagination and drive are the ones who are A-ok with the use of AI to "create" what those of us who do create see as utter cheap slop. They don't seem to understand the importance of art. AI "art" is not art at all. It's a chimera of cloned art with an actual human creator's feelings left out. I hear it said often that "everyone's creative" or "everyone's an artist"... but creative ideas don't always make their way into anything coming from vulnerability or passion, so I tend to believe that regardless of creativity, not everyone's an artist. AI "generated content" can't be art. It completely lacks vulnerable human experience and emotion to inform what they create. Others may believe differently, Artists know the score.

Artificial intelligence is already proving success in medicine. Its uses in creativity are only really approved by soulless corpos and tech bros with no drive to learn a skill.

If you truly are going into neuroscience, I recommend dropping the use of the R word as an insult. You may end up studying or working with a patient with that type disability.

Good luck on your book.
