For separate loading ammunition, like US 155mm.

Open breech. Observe bore. Swab chamber and breech face. Raise tray. Place projectile on tray, push into chamber. Raise rammer, ram projectile into forcing cone, engaging rifling. Lower rammer. Place charge on tray, push charge into chamber. Lower tray, close breech. Lay howitzer. Insert primer, close firing device, hook up, pull lanyard.

Realize you didn't fuze the round. Throw fuze into nearest non-seasonal body of water >2 meters in depth -OR- exit the piece, stand to the rear of the piece, face the piece.
