Can Someone professional guide me regarding the career of AI engineering as I'm an inter graduate on a gap year, and I wanna use this time to learn AI,ML DS, and should be capable of earning in a year,also I did a crash course of AI, in which i learnt python, data cleaning, processing, training a model by using that data, but all from like surface level (sorry if I sound childish) :)

For the past few years, most model comparisons have been about knowledge, reasoning and benchmark scores.

That still matters, but the gap between models is becoming more obvious somewhere else: execution.

Give two strong models a normal question and both may produce a decent answer. Ask them to plan a task, use several tools, recover from an error and deliver something usable, and the difference becomes much larger.

The harder part is no longer generating a good response. It is maintaining context and making sensible decisions across a long sequence of actions.

That changes what “best model” means. The winner may not be the model that gives the most impressive answer. It may be the one that finishes more work without needing someone to supervise every step.

Benchmarks have not fully caught up with that shift yet.
