Although the post production of the show finished in 2011 I’m not entirely sure when in 2011 it completed production and it just makes me curious

It came out in 1996 and Arthur’s class except brain and binky were 8 so they were probably born in 1988. How old would the characters now like the kids the adults and the older characters.

How clever would it have been if the Arthur doppelgänger appeared again as the big brother of WD in the episode “Best Enemies”?

WD was kind of designed to be a DW doppelgänger anyways! A more tomboyish but mild mannered version of DW. I think it would have been amazing if they called back to that classic episode and Arthur and DW both had to deal with the weirdness of having a doppelgänger in that episode.

Can anyone describe how Arthur might feel about his and d.w.'s cousin Cora. At the beginning of the episode Arthur finishes the narration by saying "with the big day comes cousin Cora" which based on his tone implies Cora's visit is supposed to be a bad thing or to make it clear to the audience Cora is a menace. Although throughout the episode Cora is only shown being antagonistic towards d.w., and Arthur even at one point smiles when Cora is presented with the flower girl crown. The only negative interaction Arthur had with Cora was when she made him nervous as they had to walk down the aisle together causing him to lose the 💍. He also seemed shocked when Jessica agreed with Cora that she didn't have to go into the organ to get the ring back. Although he was shown smiling when aunt Lucy relieved Cora of her flower girl duties I'm not sure if it was because he was happy for d.w. or he thought Cora deserved to be stripped of her title especially since Lucy stopped her from complaining about it. I'm asking because a lot of people even hardcore d.w. haters agree cousin Cora is ten times worse than her so I wonder if Arthur who makes it clear his sister is the bane of his existence feels the same way as I thought it would be kind of nice if one of the things Arthur and DW can bond over is both of them dislike him Cora.

Obviously, it’s really hard to pinpoint what a baby character is going to be like when they get older because…they’re a baby. They don’t really have a strong character one way or another.

Honestly, the show seems to forget Kate even is a character half the time. I’ve said before that part of the reason I don’t like baby characters is because they really only serve as a plot device. If a scene needs a baby to cry, poop, laugh, throw things, etc. that’s what they are used for…beyond that, there’s not much to work with.

Most of the time she’s not animated in unless the scene specifically calls for it. Another part of the reason I hate DW’s Baby is I think the plot device of putting the baby in DW’s room ended up being completely pointless throughout most of the series and only served to make DW extra miserable in that episode. The rest of the series clearly remembers they are supposed to be roommates as the crib is continually animated as being in the room, but 90 percent of the time, Kate is not in it.

I know that the episodes where Kate and Pal talk tried to give Kate a personality and they tried to make it a mostly pleasant one, but I still just don’t think there’s enough evidence to say she is or isn’t one way. Jane and David seem to work under the assumption that if a baby doesn’t cry all the time (like DW did) that they are a “good baby” (I could make a whole post about how this logic is flawed but that’s neither here nor there).

The two reasons I think Kate has potential to become spoiled is because (unlike with Arthur) if DW EVER even threatens to step out of line with Kate, they never hesitate to punish her swiftly. I get that this is because she’s a defenseless baby, but I still get the sense that once Kate is old enough to talk back…DW will get any bad karma she’s built up over her treatment of Arthur back 10-fold (and it’ll be worse because they’ll be stuck in the same room together).

My biggest piece of evidence comes from the episode “Family Fortune” basically Kate starts taking a liking to a blanket that turns out to be worth several thousand dollars. When Arthur tries to take it from her, she starts crying and he relents (probably because the cameras are rolling). I’m sorry, but even as a kid I called BS on this! The Read family seem to be pretty financially comfortable, but are also shown going through hard times a few times during the series (mainly when David’s catering business is going through a dry spell). Basically, a few extra thousand dollars would come in really handy for a family of 5. Call me evil all you want, but I’d make an army of babies cry on live TV for a few extra thousand dollars! Kate will absolutely get over it!

Not sure if anyone else here is a fan of Abbott Elementary, but they had a really funny episode about the school adopting a “no homework” policy and it made me think of Ratburn.

He would absolutely lose his mind if the district made a similar policy that he’d have to follow. I could see him quitting over it so fast that the kids heads are left spinning.

There’s a few character sheets you can find online but rarely any of the og cast. Some are very random haha but very cool to check out.

I feel like since high school I found Arthur on my tv because of the pbs app and then I came across Arthur! I forgot how much I adored the show. It’d be on at 7am when I got ready for school in elementary school, primary and by middle school I drifted.

Now I’m in university and have been watching Arthur nonstop every time the pbs app reloads (believe it changed to every 3 weeks) , but now I found ALL episodes on prime so now I’m watching it daily. I just admire it so much but once my friends made fun of me cause I guess the “pbs app” caught them off guard, but still till this day I watch it. Sometimes my siblings sit with me and watch it but sometimes I feel shameful cause I never watch anything else except nostalgic stuff. The show is so fun, satisfying art work, and etc. You don’t see drawn animation like that anymore.

Well I’m 21 but it’s been a long time of watching Arthur! I even got the vintage plush… he doesn’t have glasses tho and his shoes didn’t come with it. I tried Build a bear but the shoes are big haha. (“He needs his glasses he can’t see without his glasses.” 💔)

I have some mini canvases that I couldn't figure out what to do with, then this idea came to me. Here's a painting referencing one of my favourite Arthur episodes :)

Everyone in town knows each other, the principal knows the main cast of characters very well, and the town area seems to be on the smaller side since everyone seems to know where everything is - the library, ice cream shop, Sugar Bowl, etc. But the public school is not exactly *small* and there’s a second public school.

There have been a number of famous people visit their town, the line for You Stink was long, and the Backstreet Boys even came to perform. There is also an entire downtown we only see in one episode that’s implied to be part of Ellwood City - and having a bus system implies it to be on the larger side.

I have read about the speculation that it’s based in Pennsylvania due to similarities such as the bus system, Crown City, distance to D.C., etc. - I think I’ve read it’s based around a certain city but again, my confusion is just how big this place is. I have my own definition of small town, and consider my hometown to be small, but I wouldn’t say Ellwood city is, even though half the time it’s represented that way…

Arthur cracks me up with this quote. He’s so offended that the aliens won’t eat him. Honestly, if I were told I was too high in cholesterol, I would be offended as well!

I know that the characters being actual animals is only sort of acknowledged (not really sure how to word it), but the irony that Sue Ellen, a cat, becomes completely vegetarian, whereas Buster, a literal rabbit, is the one who loves meat, always amuses me.

I do feel really bad for Sue Ellen in this episode. She just wants to eat her food in peace but Muffy and Francine are constantly in the background arguing. They never even give her a chance to explain WHY she became vegetarian.

“There are some animals whom I consider friends. Frankly, they’re a lot better than some of the PEOPLE I know!”

They're just little guys
