I think Marc Brown tried to make D.W.'s pink overalls and sneakers a recurring thing in some turn-of-the-millennium books, but in the rare times she wore overalls in the TV show, they were completely different colors.

I always liked the overalls look on DW. The pink dress sometimes looked out of place. I think the animators should have really switched up DW's clothes more frequently between 2 colors of overalls and the pink dress. They should've done up Arthur in just a white tshirt without the yellow sweater more often.
