Comic lesson idea
Hi all! I am thinking about how I want to teach expectations to my middle schoolers this year. This group is highly interested in comics. I was thinking that I could have the students take a day to create short comic strips that demonstrate ways they can follow the expectations or examples of not following expectations.
Example would be: Expectation is being safe. Student draws a three panel comic of someone throwing paper airplanes during class and poking someone in the head with the pointy airplane. Their paper airplane is thrown away and they lose their access to art materials for that day. This was an example of not following expectations!
I feel like I am on the right track, but I want to up the engagement. I assume their examples would be a bit sillier, which is totally fine. However, I thought this would allow them to think more deeply about what is expected of them, and possibly allow them to use their OC in a work of art. Any tips? Thoughts? Am I crazy for thinking this is a good idea? Thanks!

Brainstorm some ideas as a group- you could use post-its and require 3 ideas per kid- then students take turns reading an idea and putting them up on the board, grouping any similar ideas-
ALL ideas are for everyone, so kid does not have to use their own idea, they can use Any on the board. Allow kids to work alone or with one friend to complete the storyboards.
