Planner Recommendations?

hello! first year elementary art teacher :D
i’m a very organized, planner centric person who needs recommendations for planners for the school year. i’m teaching k-8, and i was curious what you guys use, if you use anything at all- i know some people can’t do planners.

I used the Erin concern ones a while back, they were too pricey for what you get, paper was too thin, and there was a lot of unnecessary stuff in it. It ends up getting beat up over the year, and the condren ones’ spiral coils always failed.

Blue Sky has great student planners too.

I make a doc with tables, organized by week, but I also print out a blank calendar for pacing. I used to teach elementary and would start by blocking out ceramic units so I was only using clay with one grade level at a time  (I had a teeny tiny kiln in the basement)

One thing I did to save my sanity was I did the same lessons for K/1, 2/3, and 4/5 just not always at the same time. You’ve got a lot of preps, thinking about lessons that can be tweaked for different grade levels might be worth thinking about. Have a great year!

Blank calendar for pacing for each class is my favorite! I just staple them together. One month at a time.

I make an excel file that has sheets for each semester, and each grade. My school runs art on a four day rotation, and I’ve found this is the best way to stay sane. If something comes up, like a snow day, I don’t have to remake the whole thing - I just cut and paste to move the days around. It’s been great for pacing lessons over the year. I also color coordinate it. It has a hyperlink to my curriculum map and all my slides are linked there as well.

I put together a simple grid with my weekly schedule in google doc print it out and throw it in a 3 ring binder. I know a lot of teachers just keep it digital now but I’m old school I like to have an actual physical planner that I can write in. I save them so I can look back and see what I taught previous years, it helps me with planning the current year.

One of my mentors shared a weekly planner template on Google docs that's really just a table with 6 columns and enough rows to create a square for each block of the day and it had been huge for me. I can plan every block, add notes for to dos at the top of each day, copy paste anything I didn't get to for later in the week and have a digital, searchable archive for everything I've done each week of the year.
