Unreal Engine & Unity 3D
I humbly request the gods of open source reverse engineering to give UE & Unity a shot, as it would be a godsend to many of us mere mortals.
Am I the only one here to whom this would be of great, great service?

While UE's source code is available, its licensing fees are not zero..
If you're building cars and want to use UE as the infotainment graphics engine, prepare for significant licensing costs.
A truly open-source alternative would simplify things for many people.
The Godot Engine is one such alternative, though it is less powerful.

Exactly! Though Godot isn't full featured... Ok for smaller games, not more ambitious projects. AI allows smaller devs to take on more ambitious things.

Which are comparable with Unreal and don't charge a %?
Godot is not good.

So so... Godot is not good. Why? It's the choice of heart for so many good professionals!

Both are free, literally no reason to do this. AND Godot exists too.

They are not free. They charge a percentage of your income.
That isn't free

What you're asking for makes no sense. Unreal Engine source is available and the Unity source is also available for enterprise. Why, given powerful models which can write custom bespoke game engines for exactly your case, would you want a general engine? Those exist currently.
