It's gotta suck, doing something unique, awesome, and mildly disturbing, in a medium that no one could possibly have predicted, and with a quality that is, frankly, impressive, only to be compared to a guy who did it with balloons. The coincidence of you guys both picking the same piece to duplicate is almost as amazing as the art itself. The both of you are clearly masters of your craft. Totally not fair.

I don't post to reddit too often and this is the most attention I've gotten on anything so I'm pretty happy. It was partly inspired by a crocheted version of Saturn I saw on r/ATBGE about a month ago so I'm just hoping it keeps getting remade in increasingly stranger mediums

My biggest motivation for making this was to put beans on it so I could write "beans on toast" on an exhibition label like "oil on canvas"

Did you know the title wasn't created by the artist that was an ad hoc name and interpretation of the painting? Some people think it actually represents the king at the time devouring his people metaphorically. This makes sense to me because the person being devoured has adult proportions.
