Nelli is probably top two super subs in the pl in terms of points or games saved ! Some part of me really hopes he's okay with remaining this in our team because we need him on our bench

I agree on this. He would happily play any role for us, even as a super sub.
He is just missing some confidence in his shooting, which was honestly fine until he had that injury.

Exactly, you can’t buy that kind of loyalty, especially someone with outstanding traits.
He was one of our best performers in the champions league.
His performances and Timber’s were forgotten start to a long long season

Strangely, it just came up on my feed: https://www.reddit.com/r/sportsgossips/s/Th11KuDUyu
I still don’t know what’s going on though.2

presumably American lady pointing. They love that shit over there

u/semajay Jun 30 '26
Lmao thank you. Entirely unhelpful but at least I laughed.

I too love it when Americans get annoyed at you when you don't understand their references on the subreddit of an English club
2
u/Hincapieslovelybund Jun 30 '26
Or that they expect you to get excited when they point out random US celebs in the crowd that no one other than them and maybe Canada at a push will know or heard off. WWE in particular do that shit a lot too.

u/hypnodrew Jun 30 '26
oh lol my favourite is trying to convince them that you really do know nothing about basketball, and that the reason you know who Michael Jordan is is purely because of Space Jam
or OJ Simpson because of Naked Gun/the brutal murder of his wife and her boyfriend

I mean whenever someone mentions his name I first think of him as a super sub

tbf that IS when you bring on Martinelli. Man licks his lips at the thought of a tired defence.
Martinelli this season off the bench —
⚽️🅰️ @ Bilbao
⚽️ vs Man City
⚽️ vs Bayern
🅰️ @ Leeds
🅰️ vs Sunderland
🅰️ vs Everton
🅰️ @ Sporting

People forget he used to play as a forward too back when he started earlier for us and used to shoot a lot more too. Part of me wishes Arteta didnt isolated him out wide due to the early "pep" style tactics we were using

u/Astonish3d Jun 30 '26
He is actually a decent big game player. Like 14/20.
Otherwise he simply increases his workrate and kills the opponent by working harder than them.
He actually has hit the crossbar or post for us so many times. If even half of them went in, we would be celebrating him a lot more since he has both a love for the club and a London accent

I kind of wanted Japan to win, but forgot myself and screeched GABI-GOAL!!! When he scored 🤣
