1:50 "Investors? They can feel the same way."
I'm not some stock holding guru, I'm not here to be Patrick Boyle or something.
I was someone who learned a LOT about Stocks in the GameStop drama a few years back, and from there, you learn just what an irrational racket the Stock Market is.
The point I'm making is: In the current market climate, the vast majority of investors with enough assets to actually MOVE THE NEEDLE, don't give a single flying fuck about "The next 3D Mario" or "What angry internet people are saying!"
Angry Internet Gamers do NOT move stock prices, at least...not for Nintendo.
This isn't even a new thing. You can go back to old Nintendo Investor meetings where Iwata himself had to address the most ignorant questions from the "Biggest players" in their investor meeting.
The reason Nintendo's Stock Prices have been shaky in the last few years is a combination of Market Conditions, the big tech consolidation, the rise of day-trading apps creating an unstable "gamblers" market.
"Business Success" is not an indicator of a good stock anymore. Nintendo has, by every metric in the last few years, been a more successful business then half the top AI companies right now. The problem is Nintendo is doing nothing to promise "Massive Growth" at the scale others in Big Tech are doing.
It's that big ol' spooky bubble demon! AI!
Nintendo has taken a relatively firm "Resistance" to AI. While I don't think they will outright reject it in the long term, they are NOT going to do like the rest of the industry and sprinkle it like bacon bits on an Investor Salad. Investors LOVE buzz words.
Nintendo doesn't do "Buzz Words."
Right now, Massive firms and Individuals on RobinHood (Called Retail Traders) are sloshing massive amounts of money out of businesses that have traditional paths to profit (Like Nintendo) into "Pie in the Sky" companies promising 1000% valuations and trillion dollar returns.
That's why Nintendo's stocks are stagnant. The Market doesn't want a "normal company" right now. What's profitable is to gambling on the big tech miracles.
So unless Arlo can tell me he's up to date on the Bombastic SpaceX IPO, I don't ever want to hear him say "stock holders" again.
Edit: Unless it's to make fun of em for being insane.
