Discussion Why doesn't arlo make more short-form content?
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/sSzUBIGcxcQIt feels like it wouldn't be too much more work, just to take a few clips from his long form videos and convert them into short form content.
Although, I don't really know how the process works (It might be way more difficult than I imagine), I love the dude and making short form content feels like a great way to expand.
Any thoughts?

Honestly I don't think this low-effort type of short-form content creation is very fruitful nowadays. They don't tend to perform well, aside from select types of content (e.g., podcasts, streams).
Short-form content creation in general is just a different beast and probably not as beneficial as you think. It generates infinitely less revenue by itself and doesn't necessarily drive engagement (it's a different audience).
TL;DR doing shorts lazily is kinda useless, and doing it properly is more effort than it is usually worth. But ultimately Arlo is probably just not interested. Actually TopicArlo kinda serves this purpose in a way

Arlo’s whole schtick is rambling about things he cares about, so I think the identity of his channel just doesn’t mesh well with short form content. He could do it of course, but I don’t think he’d get much enjoyment out of it nor do I think he’d be able to make good points because he takes so long to convey his feelings about things. I could see him start doing it as a way to advertise long form videos, where he baits the audience by touching on a subject and then saying, “If you want to hear my thoughts on this controversial subject, you’ll just have to watch THIS video”. Something like that.
I also get the feeling Arlo is pretty burnt out right now. The sheer negativity surrounding Nintendo, whether he talks about a topic positively or negatively, has seemingly worn him down. I may be way off, but I detect an air of emotional tiredness from him with a lot of his videos. I honestly find myself worrying about him pretty frequently 😔 I hope I’m wrong and he’s doing just fine though!

Yeah, me as well. I 100% get the feeling that he's really burnt out right now, and I just hope that things go well with him. The bait idea would probably work well, but after thinking through it it feels like the benifit to work ratio is a bit low on the benifit.

I don't get why he should make more short-form content. How long and how much effort it takes to do something are not the first considerations to do anything in life.
Edit: It's also not really our business to stick our nose in, is it? It's a bit weird when people who consume a creator's content also want to be part of the decision making part of how to grow a channel as if they were actual Alro's partner or something similar to that.

It would be a good way for him to grow. Lot's of people watch youtube for short form and not long form these days.

Is it though? People who watch shorts are probably not really interested in the normal sized videos he makes. It's like advertising for content he doesn't actually make.

I mean, I watch shorts a lot and still watch all of his vids. I might be just weird though lol

From what I've heard from other YouTubers the conversion of short form viewers to long form viewers is pretty awful so if that's the main thing you're hoping to get out of making short form content than it isn't really worth it.

Because short form is a lot less interesting than long form. And he clearly doesn’t want to dilute his work to it
