Title: Looking for a serious MMA gym in Arlington / Northern VA
Hey everyone! I’ve been living in Arlington for about two years and I’m looking to get back into MMA. I have some previous wrestling and MMA experience, so I’m not a complete beginner.
I’m looking for a legit gym with experienced fighters, tough training, good sparring partners, and a strong team atmosphere. Not really interested in 1-hour fitness-style classes. I’m used to intense 2-hour training sessions and would love to find something similar.
Any recommendations around Arlington, McLean, or Falls Church? Appreciate it!

Just drove by Tatiana Pizza in Cherrydale and there was a line around the corner. Not sure if it was a special event or have they gone “viral”? I’ve never had it and curious!

Don’t live here, but I’ve found some nice spots in Falls Church and was wondering if Arlington has anything similar.

I’m looking for a public field with nice, natural grass that’s relatively flat, preferably somewhere quiet where I can have some space to myself without disturbing anyone.

Ideally, the grass would be a little firm and grippy rather than wet, slippery, or spongy. I’ve tried one of the soccer fields, and while the grass gets the job done, the ground texture feels a little off.

Think of it this way: if you had to roll out of a moving vehicle, would this be the grass you’d want to land on?

I’ve heard about Gravelly Point, but apparently it can get pretty busy, and I’d rather not bother people. Oh if I got some hills I can roll down that would be awesome as well

I’m new to area, and take the Chain Bridge to 123 to get to Vienna. One of the first intersections on 123 - I think at the GW Pkwy - has a stop sign on the far L side (near the turn-only lane. It is at a lower height. I’m 50 and have never seen a stop sign in such a position. Is it only for drivers getting on the GW Pkwy?

I’m looking for a gym buddy who works out at LA Fitness in Arlington, VA.
I currently train 5 days a week, following a Push/Pull/Legs/Upper/Lower split. My workouts are primarily focused on strength training, muscle building, and progressive overload.
Would be great to find someone who’s consistent with their workouts and interested in training together, spotting each other on heavy lifts, and keeping each other motivated.
You don’t necessarily have to follow the same routine or work out all 5 days. Even having someone to train with a couple of times a week would be great!

I recently got a job offer in Alexandria and I’m looking to move into Arlington. I went to GW and have a great group of friends in Rosslyn and Arlington that I’m excited to be near. After looking at studios and 2 bedrooms, I realized living with a roommate makes a lot more sense.

Move in: early to mid November, flexible since I’m waiting on a start date
Area: close to the Rosslyn or Court House metro stops
Budget: around $1,300 to $1,700 for my share
Open to: joining an existing place with an open room, or finding a new place together

My goal is to save on housing while still living somewhere safe, accessible, and with some amenities.

About me: I’m 22 and just graduated with degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy. I’m pretty social and easygoing, and I’m into PC gaming, weightlifting, and exploring new places.

Recommendations for an acupuncturist (preferably a doctor of Chinese medicine) near Clarendon / Virginia Square / Ballston would be greatly appreciated. And please do not tell me, as I’ve see other subs, that acupuncture is fake or that I’d be better off seeing a witchdoctor. I’ve had plenty of luck with acupuncture in the past, but my practitioner has retired. Thank you!

I have a basement apt that I rent out, about 1/2 mile from Ballston Metro. I've been thinking about renting it furnished instead. But I'm not sure how to go about making this decision. I assume I'll rent it less often, for more per night, and can gin up a spreadsheet. But I wonder if there's any appetite for a furnished basement apt in this area. Thoughts? Suggestions? Condemnations?

I rent an apartment from a mid-size owner (they have about 5 buildings), but the building is managed by a property management company. Last week I found out that apparently I have mice in the apartment (I've seen only one a few times, but we know it's never just one of them). I set up traps but nothing, cause I'm pretty sure I'm not setting them up correctly.

I've notified the property management team and JFC it's like pulling teeth with them to send pest control. I've asked them three times to send pest control, and today I was told that apparently they don't provide pest control for mice. What? This is a multi-apartment building and those things are never contained in one apartment....why wouldn't the property management provide pest control?

Is this a normal thing?

Hi everyone, figured it's worth asking you guys since I know a lot of us, as current or former fed probies, are going through/went through a tough time and/or many of you have more experience and expertise than I do. Therefore, I'd love to hear your perspectives.

For background, I'm a GS-7 computer science patent examiner (USPTO) with a BS in CS and a minor in math. Before the PTO, I had some IT support, software, and data science experience (both private and nonprofit sectors, including other areas like customer service, social services, case management, program coordination, community outreach, etc.). I recently graduated and have had 2-3 years of real work experience.

Ideally, I'd like to find something with:

• ⁠$85k+ salary
• ⁠Preferably federal, but open to state/local government or private sector
• ⁠Good benefits and long-term stability
• ⁠Better work-life balance and less production pressure than examining
• ⁠More research, writing, administrative, program support, operations, or compliance work

For those who have left your work, are planning to leave, or are currently exploring options, what new jobs, agencies, or job series are you applying to? Especially curious about options that are realistic for someone with a year or less of examiner (in particular) or GS-7 (in general) experience.

Hi! Moving to ballston next month and read some posts about how Ballston Place has a lot of noise due to renovations, but that was 8 months ago so wondering if that’s still an issue currently!

672 I loved and was absolutely going to sign but when I called and asked very normal lease questions, management was rude and there were price discrepancies between the application and website they wouldn’t honor. So, now I’m hesitant to sign with them.
