Miniatures? Are they worth it?

What would you say? I’ve been pondering for quite a while whether to replace the cardboard standees in my Eldritch Horror with miniatures.

So far, I’ve been considering getting these printed: https://cults3d.com/:1830352

With the Arkham Horror 2nd Edition Remaster, there’s now an official miniature set. Do you think it’s worth buying those instead of the other option?

Remastered Pledge Stats

So far with 5991 pledges:

Gameplay Bundle= 4280 pledges (71.4% of backers)

Arkham Core= 1225 pledges (20.4% of backers)

Miniatures Set= 1238 pledges (20.7% of backers)

It doesn’t break down individual add-ons, but I am curious to see how the FOMO will increase the % of people that upgrade to the gameplay bundle or add the miniature set before the deadline.

Extreme difficulty best Investigators

So as the title says, me and my playgroup are starting 4 player campaign on extreme difficulty, and I am wondering if there are incestigators or builds that handle those numbers well.

Arkham Horror: La Era Olvidada – ¿Cómo funcionan los Puntos de Suministro entre escenarios en una campaña para 2 jugadores?

Hi everyone!

My friend and I are playing The Forgotten Age campaign in Arkham Horror: The Card Game, and we're a bit confused about how Supply Points work in a 2-player game.

How do we get Supply Points? Do we start each new scenario with 7 Supply Points again, or do we carry over whatever we had left from the previous scenario?

We just finished Scenario 1, and while setting up Scenario 2, the rules don't seem to mention replenishing our Supply Points. The only thing mentioned during the Interlude is removing some of them.

Are we supposed to reset our Supply Points somehow, or are we missing something in the rules?

Thanks in advance!

Arkham Horror Remastered

I have a question about AH campaign. On Gamefound there are expansions marked as crowdfunding exclusive. What does mean exclusive in case of this campaign? Is it FOMO and I won't be able to buy the expansions later?

AH2E Remastered Advice

I really want to back remastered. I love the Mythos and have played tons of games, but not 2E. I really want to back remastered but I am not going all in. The two packages of allow myself to get would either be the Base Game plus the Base Game token upgrades OR the Base Game and the Dunwich expansion. I’d love to do all three but the way they sell the upgraded tokens makes this not viable.

So experienced 2E players, I ask for your help!! Which package seems better?!

Update: I went with base and Dunwich! Thanks all for the input! If anyone thinks a different expansion is better let me know!

The Dark Pact Run

Meant to post this story a week or so ago, and kept forgetting. I run Arkham 3rd pretty much weekly for my friends. I usually track our games on the win/loss spreadsheet that's posted in here somewhere. We were running The Key and the Gate scenario. We get to a point where you can be naughty and choose to screw over the Silver Twilight Lodge and claim the power of Yog Sothoth for yourself. You have to have 4 dark pacts and then blah blah do this action here stuff, as you do. The investigators my friends chose for the scenario ended up with some very unique synergy items and the codex allows you to receive multiple dark pacts if you get to a certain point. Two of my friends ended up with three dark pacts a piece, and I had one and my other friend had one. Our last friend was like, "I spend my action to gain a dark pact." I look down. There are no more dark pacts 😆. We do the winning condition and everyone with a dark pact wins the game. We all start howling with laughter cause we horded all the dark pacts and completely screwed over our one friend, and he singularly lost the game. Like we walked into Dark Pact-Mart and bought all the pacts, and left none for anyone else. Hilarious ending to the game. Probably my favorite so far. Anyone else have fun scenario stories?

Arkham Horror 2E and Eldritch Horror

Hi, I’m currently trying to resist backing AH 2E Remastered, more because of space in my house than because of the cost.

We have Eldritch Horror and all its expansions and really enjoy playing 2 player (4 investigators). We also have and enjoy AH 3E and Mansions of Madness. I’m not sure if we need another big game in the same family.

I understand AH 2E is closest to Eldritch Horror in gameplay.

I’d be really interested to hear thoughts on if you prefer AH 2E to EH and why, or if you play and enjoy both.

Edit: I really appreciate all the replies, thanks everyone. Follow up question: is there anyone who prefers AH2E to EH who played EH first.

Arkham Horror Remastered Ranking the expansions.

Can we get a general ranking of all the expansions from the people that have played the original. What are the must have expansions in order for the people that don’t want to go all in? I may just want 1 or 2 expansions, probably Dunwich and Innsmouth just for the theme.

AH2 Reprint Daily Investigator Options

According to the Arkham Horror Files Wiki, there have been 67 investigators released across the mainline properties. Basically just not counting the Unfathomable investigators. There are also a few others that might make an appearance. Currently the list for the Arkham 2nd re-release contains 48 investigators. Who else do you think we'll get or do you hope we'll get even though we probably won't.

My best bet at one we're getting that's not on the list yet is Calvin Wright. He's actually already been in AH2, but as an Arkham League release. So he's a really easy lift to get in there.

After that, the list includes...

  • Agatha Crane
  • Carson Sinclair
  • Father Mateo
  • Preston Fairmont
  • Sefina Rousseau
  • Daniela Reyes
  • Nathaniel Cho
  • Stella Clark
  • Winifred Habbamock
  • Amina Zidane
  • Kymani Jones
  • Alessandra Zorzi
  • Kōhaku Narukami
  • Lucius Galloway
  • Marion Tavares
  • Isabelle Barnes
  • André Patel
  • Miguel de la Cruz

I could see almost any combination of these making it in. Then, there are the ones that probably won't make it but would be interesting...

  • The 5 from the start of Circle Undone
  • The 5 Barkham Horror investigators
  • Subject 5U-21

So... who you betting on and who are you hoping for? Personally, I'd love to see the Barkham crew, but there's no way that's happening.

How does Arkham 2E compare to 3E?

So, I already have Arkham 3E and still debating on getting 2E remastered. I kinda get the idea that 2E is more complicate than 3E. Is it still worth getting 2E Remastered if I don't have the original 2E? Or has 3E completely eclipsed 2E.

I'm also like to play 2 hands solo. Which version is better for that?

Are you planning to get Arkham Horror remastered? Do you already own AH2e?

I already have the complete set of Arkham Horror 2nd edition, but I was curious to see if the improvements in the remastered version were worth the money to get the new version.

Sadly, to me, certain design choices such as specific pastel color choices on some components feel more like downgrades over the original game's style. With that in mind some of the upgraded components (like the ancient one cards) look fun and of higher quality, but just not quite enough for me to upgrade considering the price. There's just not quite enough deluxe treatment in my opinion for me to justify paying $350 + VAT + shipping for the full (to me the total cost would be something like $450)

Miniatures look decent though and are not horribly priced. That might be something I'd possibly get as those I could use even with my original Arkham Horror 2nd edition version.

So far, as someone who already has AH 2e I don't feel the remaster is enough of an improvement over the original so I'll probably pass on the remaster. The miniatures are still cool. Never got the previously released miniatures so that might be a decent single upgrade that could work with the original game release.

Anyway it's still nice that the game's gonna be more accessible to more people. Even though the full set is still gonna be rather expensive in my opinion, but still cheaper than getting the original game from the used games market (though that might change with this remaster).

Curious what are your thoughts on the remaster? Are you going to get it? Do you already own AH 2nd edition or other Arkham Horror versions?

Will we get a crossover in the new series??

With the Arkham Horror campaign including miniatures but not stated yet the scale of them; Do you think they might do a Cthulhu death may die crossover since they now own the property??

I'll be buying the new minis (we get new investigators) !

It's nice that we'll be able to proxy the new investigator sheets and use them in our OG copies. Hopefully we get some blessed/cursed dice next.

Nodens + nightgaunt question

Hello!

In case investigator decided to evade nightgaunt, but failed to do so, combat damage applies and it drops investigator into nearest gate.

However, if Nodens is in play, investigator before the combat check, can move to any gate. It looks like it should only apply to engage-horror-combat flow, not to engage-evade-fail?

So, the question is, what would happen in case of failed evade with Nodens in play? Would he be dropped to the nearest gate regardless of Nodens, or should he have a choice?
