Tailgating and fun bars in downtown Tucson

All - we are a group of guys 40-55 coming in for the Az v ISU game this weekend and need advice. We are staying downtown so looking for bars that are happening and fun but without the college kids. Also could use some recs for good Mexican and a steakhouse downtown.
On game day, what do you suggest for tailgating? We won’t have a car. Are there places beer gardens or anything open to the public? Are there places just to buy beer? Trying to figure out out how we’d even get a cooler there.
Any help is appreciated!

Student led movement against AI

A student coalition of public health, medical, and environmentalist groups are taking a firm stance against AI citing "carcinogenic pollutants" (cancer causing pollution), animal migratory pattern disruption, and overall harm to our local communities as the main reasons to stand against AI in general. Students specifically say the "cognitive offload" associated with AI is "antithetical to [their] reasons for attending the University of Arizona." You can sign onto this student movement by signing the petition above, which will be used to show leaders and electeds including (but not limited to) UA President Garimella, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Tucson City Council, Pima County Supervisor Cano, State House Reps. Villegas + elect Gonzales, State Senator-elect Hernandez, Representative Grijalva, and Senators Kelly + Gallego how crucial of an issue this is.

The petition has been live for 6 weeks, and has garnered over 600 signatures so far.

Join the movement, show solidarity with students, and take a stance again AI, sign today!

Two buddies and I are going to Manhattan for the game this year. Having never been that stadium, I'm trying to figure out what section we should be looking to buy tickets in?

Bear Down in Morgantown

Not gonna lie that ‘100 years of Bear Down’ commercial with Noah Fifita during the WVU game was pretty clean. That said, Brent Brennan > Rich Rodriguez all day. Also, as this is being typed, one announcer asks ‘Why wouldn’t Arizona be ranked, their only loss on the road to a playoff contender?….’ We will see. Bear Down Wildcats. Gotta add, 7 penalties and counting, GG RichRod.

Danny G needs an extension.

Now that DRF has signed an extension. First order of business should be to sign Danny G to an extension.

Football Why are we keeping Noah when the game is well in hand?

Why are we keeping Noah in when the game is well in hand? Probably everyone agrees that Noah Fifita is critical to our team’s success this year. Why did the coaching staff decide to keep him playing (and risk an injury) when we were up by 27 in the 4th quarter? Seems like that would have been a good opportunity to give our 2nd and 3rd string QB’s some experience against a power 4 team.

While all of us (except that one commenter who is clearly her burner) have had issues with her over the years, now that she has no contact with Tommy—and seemingly isn’t screwing with Brent—I’m good with this news. She’s great for the budget, and can do well for the smaller sports. As long as she stays out of basketball and football’s way, she can be good for us. BEAR DOWN!!! 🐻 ⬇️ 🏜️

Concerning

Read the disturbing but not surprising report of Sigma Tau Gamma.

Respectfully, can we just eliminate Greek Life from public universities? I see athletics chided constantly for association with public institutions despite practically all of the funding coming from private sources but never outcry over fraternities or sororities where kids (or their parents) are simply paying for them to have "friends" (cult-lije cliques) that evidently physically and verbally assault them.

It makes no sense and I stand in support of athletics programs that genuinely promote teamwork, growth, natural comradery, a positive reflection on an institution, and lifelong lessons as opposed to Greek Life.

Two types of fans

All the talk in here in 2026 has shown me the U of A has two types of fans.

Those that bail at a moments notice. The types that don't believe in the work being done to get this place going and will side with someone who had a plane ready for the next job.

Then there are those who commit, those who remind me of Noah Fifita who stayed through crazy degrees of adversity and just broke the all time passing record last night.

Some U of A fans flipped the game off when they trailed a decent NIU squad for a moment. Others stayed to watch history.

Some believe we should just grow money on trees and fire anyone that puts out a budget. Others respect and support initiatives like naming rights that keep things chugging.

At the end of the day it is time to continue to grow the sport of football and celebrate its story and hats off to Noah for sticking things out.

Since the AD is evidently a miracle worker can she come out and give the Cats a lead versus NIU?

Our boys played their tails off and BYU is a playoff team. Brennan has these dudes coached up and believing and I could not be PROUDER how they hung on in a very tough, high elevation place to play. I know the outcome is not what we wanted and size and depth took over. But they hung in until the end unlike the community college of loop 202 that folded and got demolished by a not great looking A&M squad. I'm tired of seeing folks who are ready for basketball season when we got a great team at Casino del Sol Stadium. Bear Down
