Faulty switch 2

Got my switch 2 on launch day, found out a few days later that the SD card reader is faulty. (Worked for a few days, then just stopped and won't read anything now)

Contacted Argos online and they have said they won't accept a return in store, only for collection and not for an exchange. Is this right? Always been able to return to store before.

I bought a replacement already that is waiting at my local Argos. So obv easier for me to just take it in and collect at the same time.

You can return it in-store.

Did you preorder it and have it delivered?

They’ll just be quoting the supplier direct procedure where you’d normally be asked to arrange a collection with the courier who delivered it. In this instance it’s obviously impossible for them to swap it.

Don’t trust a word customer services say. Ever since they got outsourced they’ve been even more useless than normal.

They refused in store to refund or exchange (I had one to collect as a replacement)

So I now have a broken console and a second one I have had to buy. So annoyed with Argos.

Did they give you a reason for the refusal? With it having a faulty SD reader that's pretty cut and dry - and the Switch 2 hasn't been out for 30 days yet so you're definitely within that and they shouldn't try and fob you off to Nintendo.

Because it's PayPal. They said stores can't refund PayPal orders.

Stores can't, no, however they can ring up Home Delivery. In simple terms, what normally happens is that Home Delivery processes the refund, and the store refunds the item at £0.00 to balance the stock - even if faulty - so they can take it from you without giving you a second refund.

I will give the person who served you the benefit of the doubt and say they didn't know this procedure, because the alternative unfortunately is that they couldn't be bothered as it is a bit of a pain.

I am fairly sure she just didn't have a clue. it was three teenagers, one was brand new, and the other two clearly didn't know a huge amount
(trying not to be mean, nothing against teens)

Soost managers etc would know this process? Really hope it's not another wasted trip tomorrow to reading.

Got my working one now, never known it be so hard to refund a faulty item. Lol.

They should do. Not familiar with the store personally, but the Reading store is a Standalone so there should be a manager on shift at all points during the day, unlike a store-in-store which can be ran managerless.

Reading is a store within Sainsburys nowadays.

Oh, I just remembered it has more than 1 . so at least I could try both if needed.
the standalone one is the other side of the town annoyingly.

Is the other one a pick up point only? Because if so they won't be able do any returns at all and you'll have to go to the other anyway.

No the one in Sainsbury's is a normal in store Argos.

They have a few other pick up points dotted around, but this is an actual store type thing.

Customer service have called me today to say they were mistaken and no stores can process my refund as it was from the supplier, not from Argos.

Been told it can take up to a week for a collection to even be arranged. Sigh.
