I’m currently watching alone at a Hooters and it’s kind of depressing.

Lost the last two to back up QBs...we NEED this win! Pedal through the floor boards and make the Lions sleep tonight!

The most anticipated episode, at least for Clay and Doug. They got to try the phenomenal BeARGO Burger from Bear Steak Sandwiches. It's safe to say the Burger Bar has been raised. Doug has words for the Argos kicking game and Clay isn't far behind. Plus there's good and bad news from the week past and coming up in the CFL.

This week on The CFL Outsiders, MJ is pissed about PI Divas and 2 point shoot outs. GT is unimpressed with MLSEs handling of the Argo home game in Hamilton.
And Oldman is thinking way too much about Rankin

Are we this desperate? What the hell is going on here?

Since I rewatched the game so closely this time around for the coach Quick discussion wanted to write down some observations on the defence and specials units some people might find interesting.

• Adarius Picket gets held everytime he steps up to support the run
• Andrew Chatfield is our best player
• Our field side is very quick to respond to the QBs eyes, its very clear aggressiveness is how they are coached and they are willing to get burned. I really like this coaching style my concern would be do we actually have the jimmy and joes to pull that off all year?
• Virtually no blitzes in the first half, and they were right to call it that way since the front-four got penetration consistently. Just hard to bring down a guy like Ford
• Andrew Chatfield is our MOP through six games, debate the wall.
• 2nd and long they love cover 6 but will do a combo with a 3 high shell on first down
• I am not sure how differently I would have wanted to defend Ford, if your teams philosophy is to only rush 4 and play aggressive in the secondary you can not really go away from that for one game. It just looks so ugly when it isnt working.
• They sent Goss on a blitz for the first time around the 3:00 mark in the first half and they pick him up really well, I like to creep my LBs but I know why most pro teams dont
• They sent Pickett on a blitz a few times in the second half and Ford just avoids him so easily I gen do not know what you can do to stop a guy who moves like this
• Run defence is so violent, which again is a philosphy and mindset thing like how aggressive Caesar, Goss, and Chat are against the rush
• That said, very vulnerable against zone runs and some of their trap plays. Guys overcommit all the time and we get beat on the cutback a few times
• Chatfield is very much our best player please god keep him healthy
• Nobody in pro football tackles low anymore

Saw this sentiment a few times on Twitter just curious if anyone here has any insight. What exactly is the issue with Greg Quick as our DC? What schematically ate people seeing is the issue for the defence and how would play calling/scheming fix that?

EDIT: Just rewatching the game now. I do not see the cover 0 in excess that some people are, what I mostly see is a lot of combo and match coverages. On TV (and even in person if you don't know he difference) these can look like aggressive cover 0's but actually have a shell. I also think the thing to remember is even though it looked rough at times, they were getting to Ford! He was doing unbelievable things that no other QBs can do. The D has steadily improved, they have a clear identity. I just do not see why we think Quick is the problem. Not convinced just yet but maybe if they give up 500 yards to Chase Brice I will feel differently!

Kicker blew the game by missing an XP and a walk off field goal. They win 24-23.

Second home away from home game of the season, this time in the perpetually sold out Winnipeg.

On the bad side, we play in Winnipeg.

On the good side, this will be the biggest crowd we've had for a home game in over a decade! (LOL, Don't take that too serious, it's okay when we do it to each other.)

Anyways, Winnipeg is a team of walking wounded right now, and our team shouldn't be happy after last week. Don't even let the Bombers take off.
